As boring as it is then I think that if you can manage at least 3-4 days 'quietly' at home and then make the first trip/s out fairly brief and low key, then it gives the child a better chance at becoming dry quicker.

First attempt at potty training DD2 (2.5 yrs) and I just carried on going out as normal (hadn't done this with DD1's potty training of course!) and it all went pear shaped. Two months down the line and I re-started potty training but this time I pretty much cleared the diary for 5 or so days in order to give her the best start possible and it (or something) worked ... thank god, as cabin fever was really beginning to set in for us all .

We are on day 12 now and she's been dry since day 5 but she still wears just knickers on the bottom half at home as it's easier for her to just pull down one layer of clothes but she's full dressed when we go out.

PS. Those Pampers disposable bed sheets are incredibly useful for potty training - we use ours in her car seat, in the buggy seat (don't want wee dripping through on to our coats/my shopping etc. below) and under the sofa cushions' covers. It just takes a bit of the stress out of potty training.

Think that's really very common with lots of children and there's lots of potty-training MN's threads on it. I think you either carry on and hope your child learns not to do that really, REALLY soon or you put them back in nappies for a couple more months and then start all over again. Did the latter with DD2 as she was doing nearly all her poos in her pants (which is pretty horrible and quite disheartening isn't it) and second time round she's been just fine .
