Annie could you give us some more info?

Is this new or has it always been like this? What do you do when he wakes and what have you tried so far?

Have you read 31 ways to get your baby to sleep and stay asleep or the No Cry Sleep Solution?

There's a massive sleep regression at 9 months, do you think it could be that? Smile

Lots of babies don't sleep through at 10 months.

What's he waking for - milk, or just a cuddle? Does he fall asleep by himself at bedtime?

Theyaremysunshine · 05/08/2014 22:24

Oh annie it is hard, I know.

Are you feeding him when he wakes? If so, you need to stop or his body will wake because it's a mealtime for him. 3 nights of mega grumpiness and needing cuddles and it should improve.

If he's not being fed, you have a choice of gradual retreat or CC really. Depends on what you feel is right for your family.

It is normal for babies to wake in the night, even at 10m but it is hard. DS started sleeping through at about 8m (we did PUPD earlier but it didn't work and I v much regret trying). Dd at about 9m about a month after I stopped feeding her at night. They both still wake now but sleep through 4/5 nights which is fine.

Sympathies.

He's never slept through. When he wakes I give him his dummy. I don't pick him up unless he is distressed. I don't make eye contact. If he really won't settle I give him cooled boiled water.

Ok, if you are not feeding him, do you think he could be hungry? How much milk is he having during the day?

Does he go back to sleep with the dummy?

Theyaremysunshine · 05/08/2014 22:41

Can he get to sleep without the dummy? If not it may be time to go cold turkey and get rid of the dummy. Easier said than done though. Or could you try a sleepytot or similar to help him find the dummy himself?

Oh and don't forget, sleeping through is just a 5 hour stretch, so if he's sleeping for that, then he is sleeping through.

Thought you might like this info on the isis website too Smile
