Ds2(3) tripped and skidded down stairs the other day, he was naked and slid down on his front leaving him with carpet burns on his tackle! poor boy i did my best to make him feel better and he soon got over it, but my sis was inconsolable, ds2 is VERY VERY clumsy, so trying not to laugh at him is quite hard

Oh good, I'm not the only unnatural mother around here then.....when we were staying at MILS ds2 (about 20mths at the time) was walking around with a wicker basket on his head looking just like a little mushroom.....I had JUST said to dh "do you think he can see through that thing?" when he collided with the edge of the door, ricocheted back about five feet and landed on his bum with a loud bump. I couldn't get near him to comfort him anyway because MIL was in the way, so I broke into hysterical giggles.

It was very comical....honest....

Greensleeves · 16/09/2006 16:00

Um - wouldn't have been laughing if he'd actually hurt himself though - he hadn't in our case, just surprised himself.

Daisymoo · 16/09/2006 16:44

I think I might have laughed too A while ago ds2 was on the skyrider-thing (swing with two seats, one at either end) on his own and the empty seat on the other side got caught in a tree. He was left dangling in the air, hanging onto the metal pole of the skyrider. I literally couldn't get him down because I was laughing so hard.

Moppi · 18/09/2006 13:49

Sorry i guess i may have sounded like a right mean mummy but to be honest if you knew my ds you would all laugh! - he is ALWAYS falling over, he trips over his own feet and topples into a tray of paints at school and showered a car mat and children playing on it with paint! every time i pick him up from pre-school his teachers have tears with laughter and endless stories about how he has managed to fall and wipe out 25 other kids with him! lol he was teuly ok with the carpet burns i did comfort him and spoil him and make sure he was ok first, but afterwards i coudlnt help but chuckle especially after he SHOWED my friends when they came round and i had to explain he fell down stairs naked and 'scuffed' his tackle! ROFL - sorry!

Ds fell bottom first into a plastic box of toys at the Dr's the other day and couldn't get out...I did have to giggle (as I helped him out of course)

Moppi - if your ds is that accident prone/clumsy could he possibly be dyspraxic?

Moppi · 18/09/2006 13:57

HIGHLY likely DWM i am dyslexic and dyspraxic so i guess he has it from me, my mum verifies that i too was a painfully clumsy child and crashed and bashed my way through childhood!

danceswithmonkeys · 18/09/2006 14:22

Oh, poor you, my brother wasn't dyspraxic but was one of those children who cracked his head open at least once a year and was always covered in bumps and bruises!
