Sometimes the kids see our illness differently.

I was surprised when my two boys felt somewhat differently about my being very ill than what I thought. I explored this in a post on visitingmrssmith.com - thought fellow 'spoonies' in a similar situation might be interested.

That's a nice way of seeing it. My DD doesn't understand my disability, she is only one. However she has learnt, without prompting, to tap me to get my attention ( I have both hearing and visual impairments) Smile

Thanks for that. I find the older my kides get, the more worried I get about my severe disability as I can't hide it from them. It was easier when they were younger in some ways. I guess one just has to be open and hope they can absorb it, take it on board and perhaps even grow stronger by having contact with stuff outside 'the norm'.

Yes totally. It is the norm to them. It's a positive thing to know people com riling all shapes and sizes.
My experience is kids tend not to question too much. They may be curious about the mechanics but it doesn't go much deeper, they accept things as they are.
