My mum has her own ideas for potty training....

She says to me that she thinks mothers today are to engrossed in doing other things and going out everyday and thus leave it too late! She had three boys then me, so she has experience! Her easy tips;
1)Always begin around age 2.
2)Stay indoors for around a week and offer potty regularly.
3) Never go back.
I have to admit she can get on my nerves about some things in life, but the thing is she is normally right!
We became another one of her sucess stories.
My dd was clean/dry aound 2, it took about a week, then I've just followed same idea with ds and 5 days in all seems good. He was 2 last month, I was so proud yesterday when he travelled down two flights of stairs to get to his potty to poo, all his own idea!
It has been boring but hopefully the worse bit is over and we can enjoy being nappy free!
Oh and she was right when she couldn't believe my dd was still using nappies at night nearly 4 , we didn't want to face wet sheets etc! But our daughter admitted she literally used to wake-up and then wee in her nappy because she was too lazy to get-up!
I think I probably will save a few quid getting my son dry at night earlier.

I agree with all of those and used them to train my own kids at about the age of two as well.

Oh forgot to add, don't even think about putting pants on until they realise the feeling of needing to go and actioning it! Otherwise they will feel like nappy and it may delay/stop things.
I took dd out knickerless for a couple of weeks, it was better than wet ones!!

God yes. I've just added the pants and it has confused the issue. SHe was doing so well - but normal life has to be resumed sometime and she can't stay naked from the waist down forever. We did have to wait 'til 2.6yo though. She's only just started talking.

Hi! I have just started potty training today (want to give up already!) and wondering about your idea of leaving pants off as she has wet about 5 pairs already!

I just put cotton pants on her to save my carpet! do you think this may be delaying her training?

help!

Lenita w've been pt all week (well dd asked for potty on saturday and decided she wanted to do it) we havent had any accidents with either wee or poo till today when I put knickers on her 2 accidents in an hour took them off and left her with skirt on and been fine since had 2 wees in potty.

Think knickers confuse her and made her think that it was nappy so leaving knickers off for another week or so till she can tell me that she needs potty (at the mo she just sits on it herself) and then I am going to try with knickers again. HTH

DD was dry and clean during the day at 24 months. No accidents since the very start of day 3.

However, made no difference to night time Tried a few times, and she stopped wearing night bed pants when she turned 4. Made no difference. She is still wet 50% of the time, during the night. Not concerned at all though - I know it'll happen when it happens. Nothing I can do to change it anyway!
