what do you think about the ellas kitchen range?

I'm about a month into weaning and so far have found it incredibly stresful - keep veering between feeling like it's going ok and like I'm ballsing it up! Have been making purees and adding cous cous, giving her banana that kind of thing but when I was in the supermarket I bought her one of the ellas kitchen pouches just to try and it was reduced. And dd loved it. Itks the first thing she's eaten more than a few spoons of and the first time i've been happy that she is getting something.

I'm not saying I'm going to start using them exclusively but as far as pre-made baby food goes what do you think?

I use them on occasion if out like others but not daily or anything. Avoid the roast lamb with trimmings it tastes horrid!

My only issue with them is the consistency. The age ranges on them mean they're runnier/more puréed than DD can manage so don't want them to hold her back as it were. Even the 10m+ are well mashed.

Have you tried finger food? DD eats a banana the same way you or I would, or I often take malt loaf out with me - just as convenient as a pouch.

I think they taste revolting but DTs absolutely loved them - much more than anything I ever made them!

The problem with these pouches is that the contents are heat treated/pasteurised so they don't go off, and that destroys a lot of the nutrients.

I agree Postman, but in the early weeks/months of weaning it's more about experiencing flavours and textures while continuing to get nutrients from milk.

I found the savoury ones were not well received, I have never managed to use them as a meal replacement. The fruit ones are a brilliant pudding / snack, we still get through loads of the 80g red/green/yellow ones.
