2 year old DD has suddenly developed a stammer, should I be worried?

My DD (2.2) is a good talker generally, but in the last couple of weeks she's started to stammer and get stuck on getting some words out. It's quite inconsistent, some days she'll hardly do it at all, other days she does it quite a lot.
Is it something I should be worried about, does anyone know? And if so, who should I talk to?

DS did this at much the same age, maybe a little younger. It was especially when he was tired or overexcited - his brain and his mouth got out of sync.

One thing that really helped was consciously slowing down our own speech - it helped him to slow down as well.

He's 2.10 now and ridiculously fluent, he completely grew out of it in a few months.

Exactly the same thing happened with my DS. It lasted about 3 weeks and then it just stopped.

Someone told me it was because they are learning so much at that age, that sometimes their brain gets a little overloaded. Not sure if that's true or not, but if you google, it seems a quite common thing.

Thanks, that makes me feel better. Will take a look on Google, am glad to hear it's a common problem. There's always something to worry about with these little people!

DD 2.9 has just started with this too - it's like having Granville in the house: "I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I like a biscuit.' She goes on loads longer than DS ever did - although he seemed to have stammer pauses rather than filling the space!

Very common, they either can't say what they need to quick enough or haven't quite thought about what they need / want to say. It comes and goes as they grow up and experience new things. My eldest dd (9) is going through a new phase of getting distracted once she started saying something very frustrating.

Ds is now 4 and I have just remembered that he went through a stuttering phase last year, it probably lasted 3-4 months. He was a late talker (can't shut him up now :) )
