What's the next step? Potty training.

DS was 2 in May. He has been using his potty since 18months and will go for a pee pee or the occasional poo when he feels like it and the opportunity is there. So far he gets up in the morning and first thing we go to potty, he does a pee. Then we have a training pants free time hoping for a poo before we go out for the morning. Sometimes this happens other not. If he does it in the potty he gets a haribo sweetie as a reward and loves this. If he doesn't do it in the potty before we go out then he will always do it in his nappy and tell me afterwards. He will never ask for a pee but occasionally will ask for a poo. I tell him regularly to remember to ask Mummy when he needs a pee or poo and ask him several times a day if he needs to go, he usually says no. SO how do we move on? DO I just go straight to pants and expect accidents? Do I do as my Mother suggested and carry a potty about with me everywhere even although he is not yet asking to go?

I would go straight to pants. He will probably have some accidents but as long as he knows he has a nappy on he probably won't use a potty when out. He's very young so I wonder if he will struggle to tell you for some time. My daughter didn't get this for ages, but she is 2 1/2 now and does. I would ask her and if she said no I usually let it go unless I knew she needed it and then would just take her without asking. I would get a toilet seat too, it really helps getting used to going in big toilets then you don't have to worry about taking a potty so much. I just hold my daughter on toilets who we're out now.
