My DS is becoming constipated - just removed a nappy full of rabbit droppings.

I think the main issue is lack of fluid intake but I'm really struggling to persuade him to drink.

so, top tips for increasing fluid intake and for constipation in general please!

Prune juice in a syringe worked for ds.

Re fluid intake, my 14 month old loves drinking out of a doidy cup, or even better a glass or plastic water bottle (with us holding it obviously) and drink long after she's not really thirsty to show how clever she is - would that work?

Doidy cup is a bit hit and miss. I'll try a water bottle.

is prune juice from concentrate ok?

We just bought the stuff from the super market.

Juice diluted by 10x water. I give my boy a cup with juice if he's not had a poo by lunch.

Bottles (with teats), a myriad of sippy cups, open cups, straws - keep trying different types if containers of water

I am a saddo with a collection

Any juice works for my boy btw

Fruit beginning with P can help so pears, plums, peaches and prunes.

some good tips thanks. I've gone back to giving him an afternoon bottle because he'll drink that, but made it a bit watered down. The prunes are stewed ready for breakfast! here's hoping...

No bananas - my ds suffered constipation as a baby/toddler and cutting out bananas (which he loved) made a huge difference!

Blend some stoned prunes and give with cereal or yogurt. Still use it now and kids are 9 and 6.

No brown bread or wheat cereals. You need soluble fibre, like porridge & white or something like hovis half bread. Sounds odd, but what happens is these product need so much liquid to move through the gut.

Sweet potatoes + butter, potatoes, lots of starchy veg. Also strawberries, kiwi fruit (Lidl currently selling gold kiwis which are yummy) & pineapple are great.

Diluted juice at meal times too...water breaks throughout the day.
