terrys - should I dye them?!

just looking for opinions/experiences...

I have LOADS of terrys (shop was getting rid of stock while I was pg and I just had to buy them) They are fab and so versatile; used as nappies, burp cloths, cleaning up sick etc, but it means that I have them everywhere (car, buggy, livingroom etc) and I'm kinda getting a bit bored of them.

So, I have considered dying them just to give me a change... Should I do it-is it a bad idea? Will it work? Will it just make a huge mess? Will the dye run? What kind of dye should I use? Should I just do some of them or all of them? Would tie-dying be a bit too 'hippy'?

TIA

Why don't you do a test batch if you have lots?

The only problem I can foresee is that you may not be able to wash them on a hot wash once they are dyed.
The dye should take easily, as I assume they are 100% cotton.

never thought about the hot wash... although, saying that I generally don't do more than 40º... think I might buy dye tomorrow and do a little test, see what happens

I saw a nappy site where some of the nappies had been dyed in fizzy drink - Kool Aid from the US I think - that could be interesting.

Irn Bru nappies?
