Was the top/vest one of those with poppers at crotch? In which case the popper-y bits, esp the back part, might dangle dantily in the potty and become a little fragrant and damp and couldn't be bothered/unable to hold that part up while child was sitting down...????
Don't knwo really!

i don't think so, but i hadn't noticed what she had been wearing beforehand. thinking back it was a hot day so maybe it was a dress that her mum didn't want to get dirty...? still seemed odd though.

Perhaps the mother has been letting the child run around naked at home, and she's got the hang of doing it without clothes on but not while she's dressed? There was a thread recently where someone's child would use the potty if they hadn't got clothes on but not if they were dressed.

There's nowt so queer as kids ... some of them have really odd little foibles like that.

Crikey....hope the Mum sorts that one out before the child goes to playgroup!

My dd (now 2.5) went through a phase of having to take all her clothes off whenever she used the toilet. I went along with it because otherwise she wouldn't use the toilet! She's now grown out of it and just pulls her pants off but I think children sometimes can't understand that they don't have to take ALL their clothes off.

My dd used to strip herself to go to the loo, I never used a potty with her.

My dd (2.9) loves to take her jeans as well as her pants off when she sits on the potty or toilet: basically, she's at an age where she just loves to be naked! If she could manage tops, I'm sure they'd bite the dust too...as it is, I'm always having to re-dress her after she's taken herself off for a pee/poo.

oh no idea..I know when ds first started training he insisted on taking at least his bottoms off. Sometimes wanted his top off but soon showed him he didnt need to do that.

iPodthereforiPoor · 12/09/2006 21:38

my xp used to strip when he went for a poo! Top, trousers, the lot - what a freak!

harrisey · 13/09/2006 01:38

My dd2 takes all her clothes off herself when she uses the potty!
