dd got her first shoes on friday anyway we took her out for her first walk yesterday and she loved it and when we tried to put her in the buggy she cried, anyway she is walking a little duck toed which i'm hoping is because its the first time wearing any shoes. What i really wanted to ask is if there is anything i can use to get black scuffs off the front of the shoes (expensive business kids shoes isn't it)

polish?

Yes, you can buy something from any shoe shop, called scuff something, its about £3 a bottle, goes on just like shoe polish.

my dd's first shoes were pink suede and nothing got those bloody black marks off tried everything to no avail. even tried putting them in the washing machine in an act of desperation but no differance. and all the scrubbing i did just seemed to spread the marks out!

TLV · 10/09/2006 10:30

a sort of raspberry pink colour, does the shoe scuff remove the mark then or are you supposed to put on shoes before first wearing them. Dh tried spit to remove which i think has made it worse so i'm abit wary about trying water

don't try baby wipes whatever you doo..... makes it much worse... seems to seal the dirt in!

iPodthereforiPoor · 10/09/2006 11:54

no advice other than chill out about it - I've given up caring about stuff like that - although I was hart broken when Griff scratched his first shoes!

LIZS · 10/09/2006 12:22

Scuff Stuff just blends the mark in , rather than remove it, and not sure what other colours than black and navy they do. I cleaned dd's bright pink nubuck sandals with a baby wipe(lightly, no scrubbing) and they are fine btw ! Best to buy a spray to use before they get worn (most shoe shops offer that when you buy) and then the dirt comes off easier.

dd still turns her toes in a bit at 5 but it has improved over hte years. Good fitting shoes do minimise it, wellies and trainers are the worst.

lol!

does it really matter?

TLV · 10/09/2006 18:30

been out today and they are even worse, so no point worrying about it now, should really have got a cheaper pair for knocking round in

get used to it....i can guarantee scuffs the first week of school...it happens!

ilovecaboose · 10/09/2006 18:58

You managed to get to today without scuffing ds's didn't even last till we got home .

UniSarah · 10/09/2006 21:36

She'll grow out of them sooo fast , not much point having "best" and "knockabout" shoes at this stage is there?

YellowFeathers · 10/09/2006 21:50

If you got them from Clarks, they normally bring out matching polish called Shumagic. It has a high dye content so it can cover up most marks and scuffs.

They do get smashed up in no time but when its their first pair you want them to stay looking nice.

mum2oliver · 10/09/2006 22:16

Babybotte and aster do a few scuff friendly shoe. Its scuffs but yu cant see. They are great

3littlefrogs · 10/09/2006 22:22

They only get one pair of feet, so it is important to take care of them. They outgrow shoes so fast, it isn't worth having more than one pair at a time. My kids wore second hand clothes until they went to school, but always had good quality well fitting shoes.
