Question about solid poo - sorry but panicking!

When should your child be doing solid poo? My 23 month old is still doing squishy messes (if TMI I am sorry!) and my mother has spun me into a panic by saying her gut probably isn't working properly. My DD is quite short which I thought was probably genetic as my MIL is only 5"1', but my Mum is now blaming her shortness on not absorbing enough food and therefore squishy poo. DD does eat A LOT of fruit as she is averse to veggies but my (non-medically) trained Mother thinks that this isn't not the reason.

Am panicking and going to take her to the docs but wondered if there was anyone else in a non-solid poo state at this stage?

Mine were exactly the same so don't panic. Is your lo still in nappies? I found that my los squishy mess wasn't as squishy as I thought once potty trained, still squishy but nothing to worry about. Diet will play a massive part in it. My ds gets constipated if he eats eggs, we counteract this by giving him grapes which has the opposite effect. Ignore your mother's "advice" even as adults we're all different and different foods have different reactions for us same in los.

Mine too! She's 2.5 and while we went through a phase of solid poos but now they are quite squishy. She also eats a lot of fruit and things like dates, which probably don't help much.

Like slightlyinsane, I do suspect that part of it is being in a nappy. She's not always good at letting us know straight away that she needs changing so even in a few minutes the poo has had time to squish down and I think she might possibly pee at the same time, which won't help.

I wouldn't worry too much as a brief Google I had suggested it wasn't anything in particular, but obviously we're not experts, all we can say is ours have the same issue.

Oh, and I'm only 5'1 and DD hasn't grown in a year, she's gone from being tall for her height to small and slim, we've just got all her summer clothes out and she still happily fits in 18mo clothes. Eats plenty though and is very active so I'm going with genetics!

If they're just squishy but otherwise normal then I doubt there's a problem. Lots of fruit may well be contributing but if she's happy then I wouldn't think about cutting back.

Google "toddler diahorrea" - common and not a problem.

Toddler diahorrea could be a cause, dd had it and didn't really have a proper solid poo regularly until she was 3 or so. Just one of those things really, nothing to worry about. :)
The height issue could be a problem, all kids grow at different rates but they should still be growing even if slowly, has her height been checked or are you just going by clothes? Dd is a slow grower and clothes lasted a while but she never stopped growing completely
