My 6 month old PFB fell off our sofa this morning. Panicked and rang an ambulance and he was checked over at a & e and seems fine.

Officially feeling like the worst mum in the world right now. And still worried about him!

I tripped on a kerb and dropped ds when he was 8/9 months old. I remember doing a thread like this. It really does happen to us all

MakeTeaNotWar · 02/07/2014 09:51

DS fell off the sofa on Sunday and almost entirely but through his tongue. There was a LOT of blood

OneLittleToddleTerror · 02/07/2014 09:53

Soon you'll learn that if they cry once they landed, look alert, there's no need to call A&E. Don't feel bad about it. You know it's a PFB thing.

DD fell off the sofa at 9 months and put her top teeth fully through her bottom lip. I felt so terrible.

Now, I think its a right of passage to parenthood! Its tests your reflexes, first aid ability and shows you how real guilt feels.

minipie · 02/07/2014 10:41

DD fell off the bed head first - she'd just learned to crawl and I'd forgotten she was now mobile

She also fell down 5 stairs as she was standing at the top of them and lost her balance playing a game - got a stairgate after that

Both resulted in nasty bruise and lots of tears (both me and her!) but no lasting damage.

It happens to everyone Smile

icanmakeyouicecream · 02/07/2014 10:44

Please don't worry about it. My 2nd baby was only a few weeks old when she rolled off the sofa whilst I was distracted for about 3 seconds. She was ok Thanks

rosepetalsoup · 02/07/2014 14:38

Mine's done that too, and off the bed. She's fine now and done much worse

NorahBone · 02/07/2014 20:39

Mine did this yesterday. He was asleep, suddenly sat up and nose-dived off the sofa onto a wooden floor. Because I didn't want to put him in his cot where I couldn't keep an eye on him Blush. At least you can learn from your mistakes so it doesn't happen again (hahahahaha).

bonzo77 · 02/07/2014 20:44

DS1 rolled off the bed onto my laptop at about 4 months. DS2 fell off the sofa onto the wooden floor. Next door was making his bed and shook out the duvet with his PFB son on top. Baby thrown onto floor rather hard. Said baby is finishing his first year at uni as we speak.

GobblersKnob · 02/07/2014 20:45

Ds used to sleep in our (very low) bed, at about seven months, he rolled off it, and then under it, where he went back to sleep. We came up to bed and were terrified, couldn't find him for about five minutes!

MrsSpencerReid · 02/07/2014 20:46

Well done for getting to 6m before this happened Smile if I told you my stories you'd report me to ss!!

RoganJosh · 02/07/2014 20:47

Mine did it twice in the same day.

Ohbollocksandballs · 02/07/2014 20:48

Honestly thankyou all for sharing your stories. Made me feel so much better!

I slammed my DDs hand in the car door once.

They live. Its terrifying, but they survive. Wont be the last time you injure him, thats for sure!

BikeRunSki · 02/07/2014 20:51

The A&E dr who checked over ds when he fell off the bed at 6 months told me that this is how most parents find out that their babies can roll.

Wetthemogwai · 02/07/2014 20:52

My dad managed to fling baby me head first out of the buggy, down a slope and into the canal. I lived to tell the tale though my dad nearly didn't once my mum had calmed down!

It happens to us all hedgehog is right, it's how most people realise they can roll!

Bonzo that duvet story made me laugh out loud!

queenofthepirates · 02/07/2014 20:55

11mo dd fell off a bed head first on to a concrete floor, my god did she scream but I figured that meant she was alive. n.b. I was not that rationale or calm at the time

scurryfunge · 02/07/2014 21:01

DS rolled off a changing mat into a large cardboard box of nappies I kept next to it it. The flaps to the box closed and for a millisecond I lost sight of him when the flaps closed. It was comical and dreadful at the same time.

Koothrapanties · 02/07/2014 21:03

Dd currently has a faceful of lovely purple bruises from two separate events yesterday.

Firstly she pulled up on the bookcase, slipped and smashed her face into the corner. She then panicked and smashed her face again about an inch to the left.

About an hour later she fell straight into the travel cot/ play pen and bruised the other side of her face.

I am slightly concerned that people will think I have been beating her so have been dressing her im her best clothes when out and about and trying to look as respectable as i can.

I was leaving my friends house yesterday and was making sure I had got every tiny bit of food off of her face in case someone saw her and thought the worst! Dirty plus bruised pretty much equals social services...

Ollybob · 04/07/2014 12:12

Dd fell from the bed at a week old! She was asleep on my chest and I must have dozed off, still don't know whether she rolled or more likely I did and chucked her off the bed! All fine and after a boob feed and call to the hospital everything was ok :) had several oops moments after but tbh the worst ones are ones she's done to herself whilst out playing. Nobody's perfect and you're a completely normal parent. :)

Cookiepants · 04/07/2014 12:19

DS has rolled off the sofa, off the bed (more than once Shock). Bumped his head off doorframes, been fed food that wasn't as cool as I thought, slipped in the bath....... I'm waiting for a knock on the door tbh Blush

Disclaimer : no miniCookies were harmed in any of the above.

Norem · 04/07/2014 12:59

I met a couple at a wedding who had just arrived home from hospital with newborn.
Dad was carrying baby downstairs tripped and both fell to the bottom.
Mum stepped over dad picked up baby and didn't speak to her dh for 48 hours :)

merryNath88 · 04/07/2014 13:00

Both me and my brother used to fall from the bed and our mom never even panicked about it!
