6 week growth spurt???

DS is exactly 6 weeks (well, he was yesterday). He normally Bfs every 2.5-3.5 hours during the day and at night. Yesterday he couldn't get enough food, every 1.5-2 hours and looong feeds, and he didn't nap as much as normal (sleep interfered with feeding). Today is the reverse, he has slept loads, waking to feed every 3.5-4.5 hours, on the boob for 10, 15 mins and back to sleep.
Does this sound like the infamous 6-week growth spurt? And after today's sleepathon, should I prepare myself for a wakeful night.

I'm sure there are differing opinions on this, but I haven't been waking him to feed more frequently today as I figured if he is growing, he needs to sleep to grow.

Any views?

It sounds very similar to what we experienced!!

Yep, sounds just like my DS except we got 2 days of constant feeding and one of sleep Smile
I think it happens again around 9 weeks (or it did with him).

Yep, sounds just like my 7 week old.
He has them nearly every week though.

Yep. Sounds like it.

I got through those early weeks by assuming everything was to do with a growth spurt Wink

DH still teases me about it to this day Grin

Thanks - yes, I did wonder whether all behaviour from now on could be attributed to a growth spurt. His weird day cycle didn't seem to have impacted on what he did last night. Must stop over analysing everything and enjoy...

In a few months it will change - you'll start to think that all behaviour changes are due to teething! That'll last you for a good while, teething goes on for ages! My DD is nearly two and now she's got all her teeth I don't know what to attribute behaviour changes to, I feel a bit lost! I think most new parents over-analyse what their babies are doing, it's a bit scary not knowing why the hell they've suddenly changed!
