Eczema in scalp

I think my dd is developing this on her scalp, can anyone recommend any shampoos suitable for a toddler with eczema? We've always used a boots sensitive one that says its suitable for eczema but I'm wondering if there's something more natural/organic? Thanks

DD has always been fine with burts bees shampoo despite eczema elsewhere.

My ds had this on his scalp and is completely clear now. I used to put paraffin oil onto his scalp and leave it there all day, sometimes overnight - he used to look ridiculous so do this on a day when you don't have plans to go out. And then I washed his hair with Elave shampoo (from pharmacy).

My DS1 had this as a baby. I'm assuming it's cradle cap?

Every bit of advice I read was to gently massage olive oil in their scalp at bath time. Then a friend of mine (who's a GP) told me NOT to do this as it doesn't really help and CAN make their hair fall out (DS1 had never had much hair since birth). I stopped and bought some dentinox cradle cap shampoo. This worked within days and DS1's hair finally started to grow!

A very good, natural cure for eczema is to put porridge oats into a clean sock. Tie a knot in the top then tie it to your bath tap. When you run the water, it will wash through the porridge oats and turn the water "milky". This is absolutely brilliant for eczema.

Thanks all - it isn't cradle cap (dd had that as a baby but Dentinox cleared it up). I just noticed dd (she's two) itching her scalp recently and there were small flakes (like dandruff).
I was going to try Oilatum shampoo as I suspect its what the GP will recommend but it contains SLS, which the eczema society says is a common irritant for eczema. Also some of the natural brands (like Jasons) also contain SLS or parabens.

Will try to find a SLS & paraben free shampoo, will check out Burts Bees and Elave. Unfortunately as dd comes back from nursery with paint/glitter/suncream in her hair it does need washing frequently with shampoo.

I've had the same problem and posted elsewhere about finding a decent shampoo, it's not that easy!

I have been prone to psoriasis on my scalp since I was a child, and TGel or Vosene really help. TGel is less harsh on my hair.

My dd gets sebhorric dermatitis. The doctor diagnosed it when she was about 2 . Nizarol shampoo clears it, but we also use head and shoulders too. I bet this is what your dd has

MillionPramMiles · 01/07/2014 13:12

Thanks both.
Bike: I actually used T Gel on my scalp this morning after seeing a recommendation and it has helped a little so will continue.

Will keep an eye on dd, she hasn't been itching last day or so. I'm not sure if adult shampoos like T-Gel or Nizarol are suitable for toddlers (I think the T Gel one I have says children over 12 only).

My name is BabyMonitor and it's been 5 weeks since I used shampoo. My hair has never looked better. I also have eczema and I started washing with conditioner only after reading about the curly girl method. Naked do a sensitive one that doesn't irritate my scalp. Once I've used up the last of DSs shampoo, he's going 'poo-free too.
