How much and often does your newborn feed

Just been told by gp my 6 week is feeding too much, 90-100mls every two hours!
Does these seem like a lot to others? How often and much are yours dtinking and is this the same throughout the night?
Thanks

Didn't formula feed myself, but surely at 6 weeks you should be feeding on demand, as you are. As long as you're not trying to persuade your baby to finish a bottle, feeding them with plenty of pauses etc then you should be fine.

Have you had your baby weighed recently? Is their weight following a centile line, or increasing?

Thanks for replying

I was told by health visitor to feed on demand and that's what I was doing. He is putting on weight and is following the centile chart

My 7 week old is ebf and fed on demand. Sometimes 2-3 hours (4-5 at night) and sometimes every hour. He's gone from the 50th to 75th centile since birth, but thats for height and weight so Im not bothered.

I did the same with his brother, despite being told I was feeding him too often, and he was fine and stayed on his centile (25th) all the time.

If he's following a centile line and gaining weight at that rate then I don't think you need to worry.

Why did the GP ask about how much you feed and how often - was it a regular check up? Did the GP even look at your baby's red book for the previous weigh ins?

On my opinion if the baby is hungry you feed it. So long as they are not then throwing loads of it back up afterwards they must need it!

I ebf my DS1 on demand and this could be every 2 hours day and night some days. I currently have 5 week old twins who I am feeding expressed breast milk. They currently take 120-150mls every 3 hours (occasionally 4-5 hours at night) however between about 6 and 9pm they cluster feed and by the time they actually finally settle they have probably taken about 260mls!

My ds was exactly the same! He was 9 lb 6 oz at birth so a big baby.

He's nearly 7 months now and still eats really well.

If baby is following the centimetres line then I wouldn't worry x

centile line - stupid autocorrect!
