Okay, firstly I have a puke phobia. Thankfully, my daughter seems to have a strong tummy, as this is the first time she has gotten tummy sick. When she was baby she would spit up sometimes...but not actually throw up. So anyway, she is acting perfectly fine. So I think it might be she had too much milk...she was on her second bottle (i know bad she still drinks from bottle on occasion). Anyway...what do I do? I dont want her to get sick again...so do I need to restrict food for rest of the day and only give water? and perhaps crackers? Or do you think bc she acting normal and smiling etc it fine to give her dinner later?

Start with just water, give little and often. If she keeps that down then after a couple of hours you could try some plain crackers or breadsticks or similar, only if she's saying she's hungry. Hope it was just a one off!
(My advice errs on the side of caution from experience - at about 18mo dd threw up but seemed perfectly fine, asked for tinned fruit, I gave it to her, an hour later I was scrubbing it off the carpets and washing it out of my hair. I'm always cautious now!)

I too would err on the side of caution. Keep it plain. Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing. If my DS a poorly tummy but seems hungry I will give plain rice or pasta or, a others have said, crackers and breadsticks. Definitely avoid dairy and see if she will sip water.

Yes a bit of water then plain food as others have said.

IF it turns into a puke fest, what I do is get out my bag of trusty spare towels and tuck a big bath towel on top of the sheet and let them sleep on that as they spew swop the towel for a fresh one and repeat.

I find it easier to whip the towels off and back on than stripping the sheets off can even do it while they are asleep by rolling them (mind I've only got 1 spare sheet as well lol).

I find the vomiting doesn't often last longer than a few hours so I leave them be then once they've settled I step up the water.

A hate stomach bugs! I hope it was a one off Confused

Hey. Thanks for the advice! Luckily it seems like a one off! It happened about 8-9 hours ago and so far it has not happened again! She is now in bed for the night...touch wood! I kept her off dairy for as long as I could, but she kept asking for more milk! I told her she could have before bed if she didnt get sick again. I offered water, which stayed down and then juice (to stop her for asking for milk constantly!) and those stayed down. Then I offered her crackers...which stayed down. Few hours later she got noodle soup, which stayed down (although she only had like three bites) and then an hour later she had a few bites of spaghetti...i know that is prob not the best thing to give...but i was eating it and she kept asking for bites...since she kept everything else down...I gave in. Cross fingers earlier was just a one off!!!

Jammy George, thanks for the great advice for the future!! I will def do that, as changing sheets in the middle of the night is a nightmare! I had to do it once bc she pooped and took off her diaper when she was younger...and crawled all around..what a mess!
