Washing up liquid (for washing dishes) can be good at removing greasy marks. I generally use Ariel stain removing spray before using Persia Jon-bio liquid, Vanish oxy action for soaking if necessary.

An overnight soak in Nappisan and dry outside in the sun!

Sun is very helpful. Baking soda too: I wash all my laundry in baking soda (with white vinegar) and some very old stains are slowly coming out of clothes.

For more stubborn stains you can try making a paste with baking soda and water, leaving that on the clothes for an hour or more before washing.

And if you use laundry powders/tablets etc then you can still add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a load of laundry to help with stains.

I second the sun! It magically removed massive oranges stains on a white tshirt of Dd's.

I use the same routine as for poo stains. scrub with soap and soak in cold water, because hot sets the stain. spray with vanish and wash as usual then dry on the line. There's a very stubborn stain on one of my favourit of DD's dresses, but most stains are defeated.

Dry in the sun, even if it's not that sunny. Worked for all DS' baby food stains (not so much now he's older!)

Thanks for all the suggestions, I hope I didn't make it worse putting them on a hot wash! But I'll try these things and see if it works

I wouldn't do a hot wash in future, hot can set stains (think of dying things) - it will probably be fine, though. Generally I only do hot washes for things which have bacteria, so stuff which has been puked on during a tummy bug, bedding if they have worms/headlice, or anything which has been left to fester for a while and seems mould inducing.

Oh my god can't believe it, a romper suit that had orange stains all over it even after I had washed it over and over again is now completely stain free! All I did was leave it in the sun to dry and they just disappeared!

Sun is really good for red/orange/yellow stains. Not as good with other stains, but gets those out beautifully.

I've heard ACE is really good. I'm yet to buy it so can't speak from experience but it comes from a very good source x
