Feeding pattern for 7 month old?

Just that, really
My little boy had bad reflux so we started gentle weaning at 4 months on the doctors advice, and he now has 3 full meals a day - porridge, veg lunch, 'proper' dinner plus some finger foods to play with throw on the floor
He's never been a good milk feeder and yesterday, after a good couple of weeks, started bottle refusing again. So I'm thinking of dropping him to 3 bottles a day
Do any of you have an approx timetable you could share? I was thinking of roughly the following:
7am bottle
8am porridge (using any leftover formula)
11.30-12 lunch
2.30 bottle
5.30 dinner and pudding
7.30 bottle

Thoughts?
Thanks in advance :)

That sounds like what we did. If he doesn't like much of his 'snack' time bottles then maybe a snack instead. Ours wasn't great at drinking water to start with so when I dropped the bottles I was worried he was getting dehydrated but now he drinks plenty if water throughout the day.

Ah thank you bev. Our little chap is funny with water - some days he takes loads and other days kicks off if he even sees the sip cup! And seemingly no correlati

Correlation with weather/temp/amount of food or milk consumed! Aren't babies funny!?

Watching with interest. Currently, with 7mo DS, we do something like this, which is very similar to what you have. Our times vary as we're bad about waking at the same time every day--if DS decides to sleep past 7am, I like my own sleep too much to wake him. But I think the time spacing between meals and bottles works out similar to yours.

Also, DS gets more food if he wants it. So, if he's still hungry at breakfast, he gets some fruit. And if he's still hungry after the main for lunch or supper, I poke veg, cheese, and/or fruit at him until he seems done.

At each meal, I also give him some finger food, which mostly ends up everywhere except his mouth, which is funny, because everything in the world other than food goes straight into his mouth.

Wake up - Bottle
A bit later - Breakfast, usually Wheatabix
Playtime (this is pretty short or may not happen at all)
Nap trying to convince DS to nap
A bit after waking from nap - Lunch, usually something like veggie pasta
Playtime
Bottle
Nap see earlier nap
A bit after waking from nap - Dinner, usually involves meat/protein
Playtime
Bedtime - Bottle

According to a weaning book I'm reading, though, we should be managing a couple snacks a day by now, though, and I have trouble seeing where those would fit, hence my interest in finding out what other people do.

my 7mo is breastfed but we are mostly doing something like this
0630 bf
0800 breakfast
0900ish nap
1030ish bf
1145ish lunch
1230ish nap with a top up bf before
1530 bf
1600 short nap
1700 dinner
1830 bf before bed

I think when you drop the milk you could replace with a snack so my 1030 and 1530. and if she ate a big lunch wouldn't need anything at 1230, so then you'd be left with 2 feeds. mine is still quite variable in what she eats though, so needs bf

keepitgoing · 22/06/2014 15:34

so basically potnoodle I think your plan is good but maybe with a snack between brek and lunch

beccajoh · 22/06/2014 15:35

You could always replace bottles with a dairy snack, fromage frais for example (although watch the sugar content).

APotNoodleandaTommy · 22/06/2014 19:38

Good idea - he's just not that keen on yoghurt though, think he's a dairy hater apart from cheese! And he's not too great with cheese yet unless it's in something else, he can't quite eat a lump of it yet

potnoodle If it helps any, the only cheese I actually manage to get into DS right now is stuff like dairylea triangles that I feed him with a spoon. It takes him a while to suck on each bite, so it's a good opportunity to eat a bit of my own food.

APotNoodleandaTommy · 23/06/2014 13:51

Is dairylea or laughing cow ok at 7 months?

OP posts:
AmyByTheTrain · 24/06/2014 10:04

I hope it's ok as I've been giving DS dairylea triangles from about 6.5 months without thinking about it much after seeing someone from my nct group do so Blush

APotNoodleandaTommy · 24/06/2014 10:54

I gave him some laughing cow this morning and he loved it :)
It didn't seem too high in salt and most of it went into my carpet anyway
