Help. Going to nursery whilst potty training

Starting to worry about potty training when I'm not around. Ds (2.5) starts playgroup next week for 3 mornings and I know all our potty training success over the summer will disappear. At home he's just been in pants and just goes on potty when feels need. Out and about, the time between him saying he wants to go and then going is short. There's no way someone at playgroup will be able to get him to the toilet in time. He's going to be wet/dirty all the time, they'll get fed up etc etc. Can feel stress levels rising as I type. Any advice?

Well done on progress over the summer. How long is he at playgroup for? If it's only a couple of hours or so, take him as you drop him off at playgroup and he may not need to go again.

At dd's playgroup they are fantastic at accommodating potty training children - before the summer there were about 9 of them all being whisked off to the toilet throughout the morning. I'm sure the staff won't be fed up - they'll be well used to children potty training. Does he tell you when he needs to go? If he does, then get him to practise saying to one of the playgroup staff that he needs to go. Good luck for next week!

Agree with the shelled one, nurseries are well-versed in this and have a schedule of very regular toilet visits for potty trainers. They actually suggested to me to potty train DD2 because they told me she wanted to join the toilet visits with the slightly older children.

Going to the toilet in groups starts so early with girls

LOl Huw, my 2yo is very indignant if she gets left out of a toilet visit. I would try not to worry - I sent DD to nursery for full days after 4 days of potty training. Didn't have much choice. Agree with taking him when you arrive.

My friend sent her DD to nursery the first 2 days of potty training (they ahd suggested she do it in the first place) and hey prestoo trained in a week! Sounds a good plan to me, they must be used to it!!

Thank you so much for helping. I feel better already. Will definitely take him to toilet when I drop him off. It's for 2.5 hours so he'll probably only need to go once. You all rock!
