Doesn't ANYONE know what to do unless some 'guru' or other wags a finger in their face and mispronounces words??

I was quite annoyed when I saw it.

Completely agree, unfortunately people will buy it! Even those who are competent, I imagine!!

actually i brought the first one as it had a great star chart free & reusable stickers.....

double standards OO, isn't it you asking on another thread if you should emigrate to Oz?

oliveoil · 05/09/2006 15:03

yes but I am asking for peoples opinions not how to do it!

I think Mumsnet should produce a magazine with a regular round up of all our tips of wisdom

whatstheplanstan · 05/09/2006 15:26

olive oil, why don't you buy one one and read it and then let us know what you think.

Have skimmed it and its a lot better than the other ones on the market!

pablopatito · 05/09/2006 15:28

Why would you get annoyed? Its just a magazine. Well done to all the parents that know how to bring up children, I envy you.

I, however, haven't got a clue, and don't see the harm in anything that might help people become better parents, and ultimately help children grow up confident, mature, happy individuals.

i no longer look at magazine racks, it just makes me sad.

pudding77 · 05/09/2006 22:12

I can see your point pablopatito, I've also used parenting magazines because they are helpful but my problem is with the whole Supernanny thing anyway - I just don't like the programme & don't see why they needed a magazine (apart from to make money of course!)

pablopatito · 06/09/2006 09:03

I've watched Supernanny a couple of times and it seemed ok? The paradox I find with these types of programs (and there seems to be loads of them), is that if I spend all day with a screaming, naughty, rowdy child, once I've finally got him to bed and have time to myself with a big glass of wine, the very last thing I'd ever want to do is turn on the telly and watch a program about screaming, naughty, rowdy children. Do some people find it escapism or something?

I'd have the same problem with a magazine. In the precious time when I'm able to sit down and read a magazine, I want to read about football or music or something - not children!
