Hi I was wondering what does everybody think of glass baby bottles ? Has anybody used them ?

We have a NUK one. It works. Not sure what else to say.

Flisspaps · 09/06/2014 15:48

I've never seen any, wouldn't have used them with my two. Saying that, they're 2 and 4 now, and even now I'm twitchy about crockery/glasses getting broken (very clumsy family)

midnight100 · 09/06/2014 15:48

Have they ever broken ? How many did you buy ? Thanks

I would really like glass baby beakers. The plastic ones seem to have this strange smell

midnight100 · 09/06/2014 15:50

Pals I see your point but I think the bottles are super toughened glass

No, it's never broken. It's more like a jar than a glass though. We bought one as we were trying lots of bottles to see if that helped DD.

For the record, it made no difference.

Sorry meant paps not pals. Was replying to flisspaps

If you asked the older generation, they'd look strangely at you because that's what baby bottles always used to be made of. And no, they weren't dangerous (though you might want to avoid steam sterilisers - which didn't exist then - as repeated high temperatures can weaken glass).

Are they being made again?

midnight100 · 09/06/2014 15:56

Meditrina I don't think they stopped getting made it just plastic is most popular . Glass is the alternative option

Meditrina . I know what you mean about the generation would look strangely to them as cloth nappies because they had squares to handbags now we have cloth nappies that are made to fit and can go in a washing machine, anyway unlike in the past you can get teats that are made out of different materials and more hygienic. Sorry I'm ramberling

starstruck thanks for link, that's a quite good price. How long do they last ?

Sorry meant stargirl, autocorrect

The bottle is still here 21 months later. We stopped using bottles at about 13/14 months. The latex teats do not last long though.

I guess I'm happy to reuse the glass bottle for DC2 (due in Aug) with new teats but I recycled the plastics ones in case the plastic has degraded.

I was regretting buying plastic, wish I'd got the glass ones to not get that tea stained colour in the dishwasher.

midnight100 · 09/06/2014 16:15

Shedding so you would recommend glass baby bottles ?

OP posts:
midnight100 · 09/06/2014 16:17

Rabbit says woof. Yes plastic does absorb stains and smells more
