Alternative to Sudocrem?

Cariad007 · 09/06/2014 10:22

DS doesn't get nappy rash but he occasionally gets quite red in his folds so I've been using Sudocrem and although it works it's also very thick and doesn't come off when I bathe him. Is there an alternative that isn't so thick?

bepanthen is less claggy. or conotrane.
but washing and drying probably best for creases without cream if they are not sore.

My dd is always fairly red in her creases, by her legs etc, as it's not nappy rash I tend to avoid the creams and just let her run around naked for a bit after a bath? Seems to help..

We use Bepanthen, the only one that works (apart from sudocrem but less thick) IMO.

Metanium (the yellow cream) it's brilliant and just works.

Bepanthen works well on very bad nappy rash. Weleda also makes a lovely nappy cream which is lighter in texture than Sudocrem and very good (but quite expensive).

CarCiKoTab · 11/06/2014 13:45

I second metanium (yellow cream) they also do another version which is a preventative. Sudocrems OK but not as good as Metanium.

Coconut oil. Sounds crunchy but I'm a converted believer.

Another vote for Bepanthen. And as much time without a nappy on as you can.

idontlikealdi · 11/06/2014 16:54

Neals Yard to a great one that is lovely to just use on red bits, metanium is the best for actual nappy rash,

beccajoh · 11/06/2014 16:58

Zinc and castor oil! Probably have to ask the chemist for it. Absolute mutts nuts for my daughter's nappy rash (she's v sensitive) and worked when everything else failed.

Xcountry · 11/06/2014 17:06

Bepanthen and time without a nappy on if you can. I still prefer sudocrem (use it on everything, even the horses) but if I run out I still have a bepanthen tester from my bounty pack I can use until I get more.

mousmous · 11/06/2014 17:09

weleda skin food
doesn't stain as bad a metanium which is the best for really angry rash.

Mummyk1982 · 12/06/2014 23:34

Burt's Bees diaper cream- similar texture to sudocrem. I tend to wipe it off with wet cotton wool before the bath (well at very nappy change before new application). Added bonus is it smells of lavender (yum!) and uracil nstural ingredients. DD had awful nappy rash at 2-3 weeks and this was the only cream she didn't react to :-)

We always used Vaseline / petroleum jelly. Works a treat.
