I am abroad and have looked at OU courses and I would love to start one but it all seems very expensive. We hope to return to the UK in around a year. What are the diferent ways of financing study as a mature student or OU - how much do you all pay on a monthly basis? Thanks for any advice then I can slowly start preparing dh for the fact that it's my turn very soon (he just did his PhD )

I am doing my MSc this year through work based learning. I still have to put in the hours of personal study, but I can do a series of modules related to my work, which means I keep my job + salary, even though I have to pay my fees. What part of the UK are you coming back to?

My dh is working in the evening to finance our studies - but he can earn a lot form a shift. If you have been out of the UK for a while the amount you can claim in loans/fees paid etc is reduced. We're not with the OU so cant comment on that, but our college charges abotu £3500 a year in fees (full time) and lets you pay that monthly. HTH.
