So I've decided to do a pure BLW appoach and I'm the only one in my new Mums circle / NCT group. Everyone else I know is doing purées. Already feeling left out from the 'how many spoons of food has your LO had today chats!! DS is nearly 6 months so am starting soon.

Any BLW buddies out there?

I like my floor mat as I can throw it in the washing machine so it has proved its worth in terms of cost to save me washing it by hand!

Well such a successful first food experience for our DS! Broccoli & carrot a firm favourite. Peach was a bit slippery & banana a bit unsure although he swallowed quite a bit of it.

Do you think cheddar cheese is okay as a first food? What about yoghurt pre- loaded on a spoon?

I've done cheese and yogurt already - yes to preloaded spoons although I also spoonfeed as DD is so excited she waves it about and loses it! So I feed a spoon then let her do it herself. But that's because I'm dining with a toddler too and am time-limited. I'd do pure preloading if I had the time.

Discovered today that sandwich thins are awesome for tiny, BLW-friendly sandwichs. Soft and easy for gums to chew. Sliced bread can sometimes get a bit hard for them to work through but the thins are brilliant.

I shall try those sandwich thins in the future Brian
DS looked intently at his toast this morning and threw it on the floor...3 times. Guess he wasn't in the right mood today Grin

So overall it was an exciting first experience with food. Broccoli, carrot, avocado & omelette all a big hit. I do confess I slightly freaked out today when I was on my own & DS gagged quite heavily on cucumber. It was the little 'gasp' for breath that followed that made me jump up & slap him on the back!! I'm pretty sure it was just the gagging you are told to expect with BLW, rather than full on chocking! Anyway reverting back to just steamed veg & fruit for a few days & maybe a pre-loaded spoon of yoghurt. So tomorrow steamed pear, apple & sweet potato.

Did anyone wait before introducing gluten? I've read mixed advice on the internet about it. On balance think we are going to just give bread now.
