Am expecting 3rd baby in 5 weeks & having a real name dilemma. Baby is a girl & I already have a ds named Benjamin & dd named Matilde. As usual struggling to find a name both families can pronounce properly but so far shortlist is this: Alícia, Elisabete, Fransisca, Lisete and Olívia. Any comments or suggestions welcome, thanks

well hubby is leaning towards Fransisca now. A few of my favourites are ruled out because of having close friends or relatives with the same name. Thanks again everyone for the ideas, beijinhos xx

maybe this wont help as im spanish, but I like Llorena or Lorena and Ana or Anna and Sofia or Sophia can be pronounced easily in english and maybe portugese? not sure but thought I would post just in case

nunuca · 06/09/2006 13:36

May I ask you why you spell it Fransisca instead of the usual Francisca?

Just curious

mapleleaf · 06/09/2006 13:37

I quite like Anabela, Filipa, Claudia, Teresa, Ines or Julia. Of course you could choose Susana or Catia but then she'll have hundreds of classmates with the same name.

wads · 06/09/2006 22:06

yes it should be Francisca nunuca! Blame my pg brain fog...

no no, surely Phrann-Chisker to add a bit of British culture to the party?

wads · 07/09/2006 21:12

acnebride, here in Portugal if the name's not on the official list you either have to get a letter from your embassy if you're a bifa like me (cost about ?50) or apply to have it added (cost ?50)

Here in Brazil (we speak Portuguese here and not Spanish as many friends in UK thought) popular girls names are
Camilla
Beatriz
Renata
Patricia
Rachel (pronounced Hakel)
Simone
Karine
Lea

Have a Brazilian friend named Luciana (Lucy), which is pretty, I think.
