6mo still vomiting... a LOT - anybody else got same?

6mo DS2 has always been a sicky baby, to a level my friends and family have never seen. He is still sick up to 10 times between feeds, and not just after feeds. He'll still be vomiting 3 hours after a feed, no matter how big a feed, whether it's breast milk, formula, fruit or baby rice.

It never bothers him, not even 3 hours after a feed when it must taste pretty acidic. He doesn't bat an eyelid and is chubby and happy otherwise.

Surely this should have stopped by now? Of course, it is very difficult for me to deal with, but could there be something wrong with the sphincter at the top of his stomach?

Was your baby this sick, and when did it resolve? I have a doc's appointment later this week but have no idea whether they will be interested in it or not.

DS was a happy chucker and obviously otherwise well. He was v v sicky until 8 months when it suddenly stopped and bar a d&v virus at 18 months hasn't been sick again. He is 2.9 now.

Mention it to your GP.

If his weight gain is fine and he is not unsettled, I don't think they will be concerned. It's just a nuisance for you, but hopefully he will grow out of it.

OK, glad it isn't that unusual. Baby sick is part of my look... If I changed every time he voms on me, I'd be emptying my wardrobe daily :-/

All mine were v sicky, but DD1 was the worst, I could just about cope when she was still just bf, but once onto weaning it was a total liability (orange carrot puree sick everywhere and the awful smell...). It didn't bother her one bit though. She stopped once she was properly weaned onto solids, by which I mean they were her main source of nutrients and the milk levels really dropped - so more like 10 months I'm afraid.... Do speak to your Dr though to check all OK

DS2 was the same and it eased up at about 10 months. I took him to the drs once because of it - they weighed him and he was tracking up the percentile and was fine.

One thing I did though when I was worried was to chuck an egg cupful of milk on my kitchen work top - this made me realise that he wasn't puking up as much milk as it seemed (ie it looks like a lot but actually isn't).

Oh dear, then it could be here to stay for a while longer then :-(. Sometimes I can cope with it but he's also a very bad sleeper, and when I'm in a despair of tiredness and he vomits all over me I have been known to wail and burst into tears. Just the final straw sometimes.

No other symptoms at all, babybarrister. It is a laundry problem, not a medical problem.

And miaow, I know what you mean about weaning. Everyone said it would resolve when he started having solids but all that happened was the vomit got more smelly and disgusting!

Sleeplessness and the vomiting is a tough combination. Would press a button to resolve sleeplessness first, though, of course!
