Hello, i am new to cloth nappies and using Onelife - would love to hear how anyone else is getting on with them? My dd is 8 weeks old and am finding the wraps too big, restricting her movement so would love anyone to recommend good wraps.

I have read all your comments about stains but i am having trouble getting rid of them. I am breast feeding so stains seem to cover the nappy and as she is still little i can't use the booster pad yet which would protect the nappy. Have tried dry pailing but had to re-soak and then tried soaking and still 6 nappies came out of a 60 wash with stains?!!!!! What powder do you all use?

look forward to hearing your wisdom!!

Hang them in bright sun.

I was sceptical but it works like magic.

although it's cr8p advice when it's grey and raining...

Ecover do an eco friendly laundry bleach which is great... my small size nappies have been used for dd anmd are eing used for ds now and are all bright and white...... doesn't work as well on poo stains from solisa... her bigger size nappies have a permanent reyish appearance with pale brown slodges.

who cares though.... nobodies going tpo be inspecting you babies nappies to see how white they are!

'solids' obviously..... left handed typing while feeding ds

My ds is 7 weeks old and I too suffered with bad stains!! I dry pail mine but got over the stains by prewashing in Bio Tex (which is bleach free!) followed by a 60 degree wash in eriel non bio and added an extra rinse at the end, the result is nice white stain free nappies!

I was using Motherease Airflow wraps but found they were marking my little one. I have now been converted to Lovebums wraps they are brilliant, no leaks, no red marks on ds legs or tummy. They have fleece cuffs and tummy band which is super soft! Perfect fit too as they have two bands of poppers for extra flexibility. Maggie was brilliant! Custom made some small white ones for me and I received them in a couple of days.

Hope this helps

thanks for all your advice - can't believe that a few hours in the sun and they all disappeared!! brilliant! Have bought the bio tex and ariel - do you put in 2 tabs or just 1 as there seems to be lots of advice not to over do the washing powder as they get caked up!! There is much more to cloth nappies than i realised - does it get easier?!!

Hi again

I only use about 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of Fairy Non Bio depending on how many nappies I have and how full the washing machine is. I use upto 1/2 cup of Biotex in the prewash again depending on how many nappies etc I have to wash. The extra rinse cycle at the end helps to take out any extra powder residue. I haven't found my washing routine causing ds any problems but I think you just need to give it a go and adjust the amounts accordingly.

Hope this helps

Just noticed that I posted Non Bio Fairy when in actual fact I now use Aerial not that it really matters both work just as well!

Also noticed your using the tablets and not powder so I would use one? and see how you go. Loose powder is cheaper and you can adjust the amounts better.

I found that sunlight works wonders for stains. Failing that, I use a sachet of Glowhite on the most stubborn nappies and then immediately wash them again with Fairy non bio so that no chemicals are left in the nappy.

i use a 1/4 of a cup of powder or half a tablet with some white wine vinegar on a 40 degree wash. i find doing a prewash and extra rinse along with line drying the best for stain free nappies.
