How was your one year old after one year jabs?

I am a little bit worried about my dd. She had her jabs nearly a week ago. In the past few days she has become exremely clingy and screechy if I so much as move an inch from her. She has also had disrupted sleep and really long naps in day. Anyone else experienced similar please?

V clingy then sick as anything. Landed up on anti biotics - dr said it's very common that they get all mucused up from the reaction which then gives them an infection that requires anti biotics.

We went away for the weekend after his shots. Worst. Weekend. Ever. Grin

My ds had his jabs 10 days ago & is exactly as you describe! I really hope it's over soon.

My DS has just had his chicken pox jab and is a bit feverish, clingy and sleepier than usual. The doctor told me that he could feel ill up to 10 days after the jabs. Hope your DD is feeling better soon

Theyaremysunshine · 26/05/2014 19:52

Same here with dd. Then much better. Then high temp and face swelling from the mumps bit at 3 weeks, which we're just getting over a week on. Grrrr.

DS sailed through them.

minipie · 26/05/2014 20:00

Yes DD was really clingy and grumpy after her first MMR dose (we had the other triple jab a few weeks earlier and she was fine after that). It lasted about 6 weeks (sorry!) and was really hard work. Distraction was key.

She also slept badly but she always sleeps badly so can't blame that on the jab necessarily!

neversleepagain · 26/05/2014 20:01

We delayed the MMR and had it at 18 months. No reaction or different behaviour.

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 26/05/2014 20:18

May I ask why you delayed it ?

My dd had her mmr at about 14 months ( due to the doctors being reluctant to do it until her allergies were confirmed) 10 days after she was covered head to toe in a rash, clingy, upset and feverish ( I did think it was chicken pox at first but no it was diagnosed as a viral infection, conviently. She was better after about a week and I'm glad she had the jabs rather than what would happen if she didn't.

neversleepagain · 26/05/2014 22:00

They had the first lot at 16 months then the mmr at 18. I decided to wait until they were a bit older and didn't want to overload their bodies with too much too soon.

Good idea, never

Poor babies. My dd is still off. Very clingy and awful sleep.

If I recall it was only the year one that dd struggled with. About a week later she had a temp and as you describe, next day a rash all over her legs then fine again

dramajustfollowsme · 27/05/2014 08:30

Dd got temp over 40 and was really unwell for a good few days, ended up in A&E.
Recovered fine though but worrying at the time. It makes me wonder of I should get her the booster when it is due.

Meglet · 27/05/2014 08:31

No difference with any of their jabs. I was watching them like hawks, ready to pounce with calpol and the thermometer. And nothing happpened........Confused.

widdle · 27/05/2014 14:38

So DS actually slept 11 hours straight last night (unheard of) but isn't eating much at all. Are any of your little ones off their food?

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 27/05/2014 16:14

Yes widdle dd is not eating as much. I just ensure e has lots of fluids and watery foods (eg grapes etc) it is a tiring time!

widdle · 27/05/2014 17:00

I really wish I'd waited until after DS's birthday. He was fine with every other set of jabs. It's his birthday tomorrow and party on Saturday - although I'm sure he'll pick up enough to have cake Smile

KeepOnKeepingOnAndOnAndOnAndOn · 27/05/2014 21:22

I bet he will!
Fingers x for you both :)

LO had her one year injections just over 2 weeks ago. About a week after she was covered head to toe in a measles type rash, clingy, whingey, off her food and sleepy. The rash cleared after a few days but she's still not herself. Anyone else had the same after the 4 injections at one year old? Just seems to be taking ages for her to go back to normal. I took her to Drs yesterday who weren't concerned at all.

tartanlass1 · 20/04/2018 08:23

Sorry I'm new on this and thought I was starting a new thread

FartnissEverbeans · 20/04/2018 19:07

No, it's not a good idea at all. The vaccination schedule has been developed very carefully to maximise your baby's safety.

Your baby is given the MMR at about the time that the measles immunity they received from you (via the placenta) is waning. Even with the vaccination, which protects 95% of babies after the first dose, babies who haven't yet had the second dose are at the highest risk for measles infection of any group. There have been major measles outbreaks this year. People have died. Please don't risk your baby's health by delaying vaccinations.

For what it's worth, my son had absolutely no adverse reactions to any of his vaccinations. No fever, nothing. I didn't give calpol. I think a lot of the symptoms people report might be a case of confirmation bias.

brownbananainthebowl · 21/04/2018 22:27

My LO had his injections about 3 weeks ago now and he was absolutely fine for the first week and then he got very whiney/moany at everything and clingy for 2 days straight. Was off his food and harder to settle at night. Not like him at all so was a bit stressful but just gotta keep your calm and it wears off
