Toys to collect for 7 year old girl

My dd7 would really like to start a collection. She likes all regular toys like sylvanian and my little pony etc but you can't really "collect " them, as such. My ds has started collecting Trashies from the Trash Pack series and these are really good, not too expensive, lots to collect, playable with and even have an online collectors tool kit where he can see which trashies he has and which are still to collect.
Can anyone suggest a girly type (forget MN PC brigade, she likes "girl" things) toy, little dolls or pets or anything that she can collect and keep track of in some way?

Moshlings?

Lego Minifigs? Not too expensive, and widely available.

Will have a look at those both, thanks!

my dds collect the fairies and elves, and unicorns and winged horses etc that come as sort of statues. They sell them in Toys R Us, they are made by Schleich. They are not that cheap, but make a nice collection on a shelf.

dd1 also like the miniature furniture that is for dolls houses, not the toys, but the scaled down 'real' stuff, so she has a little room set up on a shelf and she buys tiny flowers/pets/dishes to go in it

Squinkies?

Bettercallsaul1 · 24/05/2014 23:59

Do they still make Polly Pocket(s)? (Tiny little dolls and accessories, each in its own setting - house, school etc) My daughter had a vast array of these and would sit on her bedroom floor, surrounded with them, and play for hours! They couldn't get lost because each had its own little, lidded case. They came in all different sizes so you could pay a lot or a little and they were suitable both as a special gift or just a little treat.

Loving squinkies but have a feeling they may be stopping them cos they are all reduced !

Rubbers( eraser variety).

Lots around. Cheap. We all did this in the early 80's.

Erasers is a good idea, there are lots of Japanese collectible ones about at the moment. Paperchase have loads and amazon.
Or moshlings which tend to be available in more places and are very cutesy. You can get a starter pack thing in argos.

I used to collect whimsies and I have seen some recently on e-bay. I don't know if you can still get them new. (I will need to google). Do you or family go abroad. Dolls from different countries would be lovely.

Thanks peeps. I showed her squinkies and she loved them!

DD1 (7) is currently collecting stones. She occasionally buys crystal type things from gift shops but mainly just picks them up from the drive which is free Smile

TitusFlavius · 25/05/2014 21:58

Blackpudding - that's brilliant! My DS did something similar, and you can often get really beautiful stones (or "gems" or "jewels", if you are selling the idea to a child) for a pound or so in many gift shops and museum shops, and at the end of it all you have a bowlful of pretty stones, not a drawerful of plastic tat.
