Wee Wee as a ploy to delay bedtime?

My 2.6 DD has just realised (after being trained for 2 months) that 5 mins after bedtime she can shout "mummy wee wee" and get taken to the loo, hence delaying bed time. This is after she has been sat on the loo, and produced a wee before bed. She wears a nappy at night. The last few nights we've had to take her to the loo twice and she has done said wees, insisted on a new 'dry' nappy and then finally gone to bed. Is this a phase? Anything I can do to nip it in the bud?

Are her nappies wet in the morning? You could just take the nappy off and leave a potty in her room.

If it is a delaying tactic, be sure that she will think of another once you nip this one in the bud ... it is her job as a child to think of the mose inventive delaying tactics she can
It sounds great that she wants to do a wee before bed ... looks like you may be closer to dry nights than you think. TBH I would just go with it, let her do her wee, don't give her too much attention and put her back to bed with little fuss. If she is looking for a reaction (ie attention seeking) she will get bored.

My DS does this (although he is out of nappies at night too), and if I say "you don't need a wee" 5 mins later he is demanding a poo!

My dd 2.8 has also got hold of this one...'want peepee on TOILET!'. I'm using the ghosty method at the moment, as her nappies are only dry in the morning about 40% of the time...

We've been here - it gets bloody annoying doesn't it. It was a phase with my DD. I got into the habit of encouraging her to go for a wee before she went to bed and if she did ask 5 monutes later would take her to the toilet with very little discussion, let her do her wee and then straight back to bed. She soon realised it wasn't that much fun getting back up and now goes to bed with no problem but it took a while and a whole lot of perserverence(sp!) Good luck

She'll soon get bored, especially if you provide as little stimulation as possible- no talking, keeps lights off or as low as possible (nightlight), back to bed.
