Bio-degradable Pull ups

Can you get them? DD (not quite 2)is not quite ready for potty training, but it does make it easier to pop them on when she won't lay still. Or if she does decide she wants to try the potty or toilet.

Any ideas?

Cheers

I have never heard of them I am afraid. However, when you do start to potty train DONT use pull-ups. They need to associate weeing and feeling wet and the sensation that went beforehand. If you use them it will only confuse them. You have to be prepared to have accidents and to stay in for about a week! Also, don't train your dd until she is ready and showing signs that she wants to (and not when you want her to). It helps for them to see contemporaries using the potty or going to the toilet. I found this with my two anyway. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. Not really ready for potty training myself. Just waiting for the next one to pop so will have my hands full withing a couple of weeks.

I bought DD some knickers a while back so all ready when she is. Mainly using pull ups as she is happy to put these on rather than other types. We just prefer to use biodegradable and wondered if there was such a thing.

Back to your advice, does this mean that they pee or poo everywhere until they understand?

Lets hope we can hold out till after the winter!

Cheers

Hi there are some washable trainer pants here

Beabea · 31/08/2006 22:32

Thanks Jennt. Just not sure I can be doing with the extra washing. Good idea though.

I use a combination of eco-friendly nappies (Moltex)and washables for dd2 (and for previous ds and dd1). I found that I used washables more nearer to training and that helped with the wet feeling and association with having gone to the toilet. You may find, however, if another is on the way their arrival may change things (ie older child reverts to older habits). If you find biodegradable pull-ups please post it, as I have a very wriggly one year old who HATES having her nappy changed!!!

I have just found out that Waitrose (or Ocado if you do your shopping on the internet like me) are going to be stocking pullups made by Naty from the start of November 2006.

Naty make the Nature Boy/Girl biodegradable, no nasty chemical nappies that are currently stocked by Waitrose/Ocado.

I love these as they are ecological and better for baby, as no chemicals, but have been struggling with the ever increasing wriggles at nappy change time.

If you want to use these I would recommend contating your local waitrose/ocado to ask if they are going to stock them, as otherwise they might not be in your local store.

Ocado are pretty good, if a few people ask for a product they do their best to add it to their product list.

MissingMySleep, thanks for the post. Unfortunately, I live in Dublin so no Waitrose here...

Boots in Liffey Valley and Jervis Street in Dublin sell the Naty Nature range. They will presumably get the pull ups from November as well.

Bambolina make pull ups which although not biodegradable (no disposables are unfortunately not even Nature or Moltex ) they are more ethically produced with fewer chemcials and no bleaching etc.

Spirit of Nature and others sell them and they were great for my son. Also they have no baby prints or patterns - just plain whit so look a little bit more like pants IMO.

They are here

Hope this helps
