have no idea what a nappucino is....please enlighten me

Tommy · 01/09/2006 16:08

it's a real nappy information session isn't it? With coffee!
I tried to go to one once recommended by someone on MN but I couldn't find it!!
Oliviab is the Mnetter you want but I haven't seen her around for a little while

vnmum · 02/09/2006 09:27

thanks tommy.
i am in an area where most people use disposables and im not sure if many would be that interested in cloth but id like to try to show people what its all about, then some may well decide to change

perhaps you could try and CAT oliviab and ask her how she went about it and what sort of repsonse she gets from it?

Well done you! I've never been to one, but I've seen the flyers in Starbucks. I should imagine that it's publicity that's the hardest thing to arrange - otherwise, I'd have thought you have a selection of nappies available, some coffee & biscuits, and a subservient baby/toddler to be the moggler! Also a helpful and enthusiastic mate to assist. Why don't you ask your community midwife to publicise it to her ante & postnatal groups? If you're limited in the selection of nappies you have, why not contact some of the manufacturers and ask them for some samples? Little Lambs would let you have some for certain, I should think. Probably also Kooshies, and Bambino Mio. I've thought about doing one for a while so I shall be watching this thread with interest....

Yes - I have - in Starbucks in the Swindon Brunel centre. I have another coming up on Tuesday 17 October from 10 am ? 12 noon, and I have organised a real nappy stall at the Mother, Baby and Toddler event being held at STEAM in Swindon on Sunday 1 October. E-mail me if you like, at dappernappies at yahoo . co . uk (no spaces). I have a website too ? see uk.geocities.com/dappernappies/

lrwg · 02/09/2006 15:39

Have been to one, but not run one. It was run by local suppliers of nappies. They had dolls you could try the nappies on and gave out pretty good advice.

Suggest you contact your HV or local council for further assistance.

chocybickie · 02/09/2006 15:41

yes its more of a mum's get together with coffee, tea and people talking about nappies.

chocybickie · 02/09/2006 15:42

oh and biscuits. home made of course. or pass some off as your own if you're rubbish at it like me.

SAHMof1 · 02/09/2006 19:06

Got your email - have replied!

vnmum · 02/09/2006 22:43

hi thanks for the quick reply. i will talk to the midwives and home start where i help with a breast feeding support group to see if they think it would be worthwhile. if it doesnt seem to be a popular idea i will have to wait till i get back to the uk which hopefully wont be too long.

thanks again

Hi ya,
If anyone wants to save money ++ , the planet, or both then it is worth popping along to a 'Nappuccino'. I run the Nappuccino's in Leamington Spa and Warwick, which also covers Kenilworth, Southam and Banbury. They are fun sessions (even if your not interested in cloth nappies - there is 'Starbucks' coffee!! and lots of biscuits) and a great way to meet other mums and babies!! You get honest, independent advice on different types and brands of nappies from a mum (myself) who has tested lots of nappies and currently uses them (on my daughter of course!!).

I worked out that I saved £720 on using modern cotton nappies for my first daughter - with the savings we purchased some lovely wooden play equipment for the garden (which we wouldn't have afforded had we used disposables!). Just think what you could do with the savings!!

If you are interested then here are the dates below:
(If you live a distance away & can't make a session, feel free to telephone me for information or advice. I will also try hard to beat nappy prices you see elsewhere.)
