Baby won't sleep!! So tired!

My ds is 6 months old and doesn't sleep day or night.

As a newborn he had colic for 12/13 weeks cries every waking moment, now at 6 months he is still quite a grumpy hard work baby, don't get me wrong he is full of smiles and a lot more content than what he was just doesn't sleep and I am so tired now I just want to keep crying.

In the day he cat naps for about 15/20 mins sometimes every 2/3 hours but sometimes only twice in a day, in the evenings I put him to bed asleep between 7 & 7:30 but he only has an hour then he's up again for 2/3 hours. Normally he has a feed around 12 which takes ages for him to settle cos he does this silly moaning noise (I'm unsure if he's in pain or just moaning) he then wakes again at 3 and like tonight he is wide awake and has been for an hour now! He will finally go back off nth probably not for at least another 30 minutes then he will be awake again to get up between 6 & 7.

I'm just so tired I want to keep crying but dh doesn't understand, he says sleep wen he does in the day but I can't because he doesn't sleep,
I think ds is grumpy because he's tired I'm grumpy because I'm tired and I don't no how to solve it, should I take him to the doctors Incase there is a reason for this?

I just need some advice please ladies x

andcake, with the 234 routine you describe, does that mean only two naps a day? LO is 6 months old... Should it not be 3 naps?

Andcake · 21/05/2014 21:56

Ds barely napped but was definitely on only 2 naps at around 6 months - actually I can never remember him having 3 naps but at 21 months he sometimes refuses a nap at all! Sometimes it took me longer to get him to nap than he slept Angry
But I remember trying to sort out his blw - and food an hour after milk etc around the nap schedule!

Oh bless you, I don't think I'm at that bad place you are it must be awful to feel so bad you need medication :( I do feel for you I don't think people understand how you feel unless they feel similar, and doesn't it bug you when you talk to people for support and they come back with oh my baby is so good sleeps all through the night, I just think.. Good for you I can't help it!

It's difficult for my dh to help in the nights because ds won't sleep or settle on him at all day or night don't know why I think he refers to daddy as play time not sleep time plus he has to get up for work early so it's abit unfair, during the days I'm with my mum a lot she is a great help I couldn't cope without her at all.

Ds is awake already 9:15pm he went to bed that is 45 minutes, he is feeding as we speak and looking very sleepy but I think he. Just likes the comfort of a cuddle

Although its not for everyone at 7 months we gave up and co-slept - one night DP was up late and a bit drunk. As he snores when drunk I told him to sleep in the living room - when DS woke I just brought him into bed with me at around 11pm. The next thing it was 6 am and I had had more sleep than I could have dreamed of...we then side cared our cot and did this until ds was around 1.

We co sleep every night by 3am sometimes by midnight ds is in our bed. The first 12 weeks he was born his colic was so bad by 2am every night I was co sleeping on the sofa with him that's not exaggerated at all, he would settle on me and only on me so in the end I give up and let him just stay there.

I do worry about him not wanting to go in his cot after being in our bed but dh and I have sort of agreed at the moment the most important this is us just getting some sleep anywhere and anyway we can :)
