Potty training

Can anyone tell me the best or recommended age to start potty training? I know all children will do it at different times depending on the parent but what is considered the right age to do it?

Some point between 18 months and 5 years would be reasonable, I'd say Smile

Children are very very different about this. Under 2 would be considered young, over 3.5 older, but it's far more important to spot the signs of when they're ready and not miss the window of opportunity.

They need to be able to be able to tell you when they are having a wee or poo (signing is fine if speech isn't there yet), be able to walk to the potty and big enough to sit on it. They also need to be showing an interest.

I used a book called potty training boys, which was great. There's a girls version too. Explains how to tell when they're ready and how to encourage before they are.

Started my DS the summer before he was 4. Didn't use a potty, straight on the toilet with a soft seat that had handles.

Personal preference but worked fine. Had a stack of pants and joggers ready which was just as well Grin He was fine in the day after about 3 weeks.

He's 6 now and dry at night since Feb.
