Took both DC home on the bus.

Otherwise, DS1 was 6 days. They didn't get a clear reading on one of his ears at birth, so we had to take him to a clinic. Went to the pub afterwards and stayed until we were kicked out.

DS2 was about 5 days, but we were in the hospital 3 days. Had to go into central London to get his passports sorted because we were flying to the US at 3 weeks! Also took him to DH's work and out for dinner. Totally overdid it that day.

Day 3 (although she was born at 23:27 so really only 2 days) to the park and lunch with mu folks lol.

1 week, DH drove us to the doctors surgery so I could get antibiotics for infected episiotomy wound. They waited in the car so he wouldn't get exposed to germs! I think the first proper walk was at 2 weeks.

Less than a week, both dc. We took them to be registered and a short walk around town afterwards. I was very sore for the first few weeks so we didn't go out much after that for another month.

Same day. I was younger and fitter. not now though. Prefer to slob out for the rest of the day - probably the day after I would go now

We took ours for a walk on the first day out of hospital. No harm done. Caused a bit of an issue with the Asian in-laws - their culture suggests staying inside for at least a month, longer if possible, to avoid respiratory illness. I thought this was crazy until I reflected upon my family's strongly held beliefs (Scottish/Scandi) that cold fresh air seems to cure all ills... Use your own good sense is my recommendation!

First baby, born in the evening, went out of house next morning. Second baby, born in the afternoon, did school run next morning.

Proper trips out, as in out for more than about half an hour, first baby was 2 days when we visited relatives for a few hours, nothing strenuous, then 5 days when we did shopping trip and meal out. Dc2 was registered at 5 days, had a day at the beach at 6 days, and went to cinema, hillwalking and round the designer outlet before the end of the 2 week paternity leave.

Second baby was 10 hours old. I did a full weekly shop on my own ( OH only had one day off work) at Tesco, with my baby and two year old and drove home. I missed the midwife's visit!!

Next day was at toddler group too- at least there I was able to sit down whle someone made me a cuppa!
