Between sizes

This may be a silly question, but my DS is too big for 0-3 babygro's, but the 3-6 month ones are too big for him... Not sure what to do! He is only 2 months but a big boy 10.7 when born, now 14.14), and is in 3-6 vests, jeans (rolled up), but I have no idea what to do re babygro's... Anyone know of any stores who do particularly big 0-3, or small 3-6, or let me know what you did when they crossed sizes - the difference seems really huge. Thanks!

I would just use the 3-6, they may be a bit big but he will soon grow into them!

UriGeller · 14/05/2014 06:32

Roll the sleeves up? I don't think he will mind if the feet are a bit flappy.

I used to cut the feet out of babygros when the ends got a bit tight.

Perhaps try little pjs!

I find sleepsuits always have really long legs!

I usually get dd a pack of 3 sleepsuits and then 2 pair of pjs in each size

When she first grows out of say 6-9 sleepsuits I put her in 9-12 pjs before 9-12 sleepsuits

You can turn the pjs trousers over at the waist

Tesco basic babygrows are quite big. But I'd just use what you have in 3-6 and let him grow into them.

Re small/large sizing

I always find next sizes smaller than supermarkets

fruitpastille · 14/05/2014 12:01

Bizarre, I find Next sizes big for babies! My dd is in 0-3 babygros but her 0-3 outfits are too big. Sleeves rolled up here.

ikeaismylocal · 14/05/2014 12:36

I don't think slightly big babygrows is an issue at that age, it's not as if he's going to be walking about and falling over!

RabbitSaysWoof · 14/05/2014 20:40

Agree roll sleeves up, I used to pop socks over the top if the feet were too flappy.

cowbiscuits · 14/05/2014 21:07

If he has long legs, you could buy babygrows without feet and put little socks on. If he has a long body, you might be better with little pyjamas.

I still find we go through periods where clothes are either a bit big or a bit small but they usually still fit adequately, there's normally enough overlap between sizes for it not to matter much.

We tend to have a range of clothes from different shops and so he grows out/into them at different times.

DS has short arms and legs so will grow out of things in length, while the arms are still too long.

Jaffakake · 14/05/2014 21:26

Mothercare & Next is big. Sainsbury & Boots are small. Although he may as well get used to stuff not fitting as they grow so madly everything is either too big or too small!

Artandco · 14/05/2014 21:30

I always just added baby booties to sleepsuits as at that age they wore in day still. That way the feet part fits and the excess moves up to leg/ body part so fine.

Usually crochet type first or soft moccasins. Then shoo shoo leather soft ones after 6 ish months or moccasins again

roofio87 · 14/05/2014 21:36

Mothercare are huge, but primark come up small and I find them a good bridge between sizes. my 7mo currently wears either 3-6m Mothercare sleep suits or 9-12m primark ones to bed!!!

JellyMould · 14/05/2014 21:36

H & M used to do a 2-4 month size I think.

boopdoop · 14/05/2014 21:47

Thanks everyone! Really helpful!

Matalan are really generous with sizing so I normally buy some of the size that is getting too small for DS to do him when he is between sizes from there.

Gerty1002 · 15/05/2014 09:46

Next and M&S are big, Asda pretty small and Primark very small!

Had a 10lb 4oz DS so have been where you are and my advice is that slightly big ones are fine, at least then you might get some decent wear out of them. My DS hage averaged a size a month from birth to six months, since then has settled into size 18-24 months and is now 8mo with no immediate signs of getting too big for them.

I recommend you don't buy too many clothes and nappies in one size, as LO may grow out of them quicker than you think Smile
