ECO disposables

Hi everyone was just wondering if anyone has used the ECO branded nappies like moultex or beaming baby or naty ??
I was to use disposable in first few weeks of babies life until they are pooping properly but i dont want to use the chemical brands like huggies and pampers etc with the nasty perfumy smell to them as all they do is cause nappy rash etc also wanting biodegradable bags to put them in to minimise damage to landfill as much as possible

I've used naty and they're nice.
Tbh though I've read that in anaerobic landfill conditions they still won't degrade. Not sure how true that is

hedwiggity · 10/05/2014 11:15

I know but they are supposed to degrade after 4 yrs as opposed to the 400 yrs it takes to destroy a pampers or huggies type nappy ive thought about composting them too not sure how to go about it

Naty leak and are very papery and stiff. I used them with DS and was very grateful, as real nappies and normal disposables both caused terrible rash. But with DD we were given some unused Bambo nappies which are softer, don't leak much at all, and are also eco-dispos. www.spiritofnature.co.uk are cheaper for them than Amazon. We have some for the first weeks, and for long days out etc and really can't fault them. They're a MN rec for a reason, it seems. I loved Naty - left a positive review in fact - but have been completely converted to Bambo now. Just a shame they don't sell them in any shops that I know of.

Sainsburys used to do own brand Eco ones that fitted DD well and were less rustly than done of the other brands

We use Naty when not using cloth - I can't fault them and they never leak for us. We used cloth exclusively from 1-25 months though so I only know about the bigger sizes!

perfectstorm · 11/05/2014 19:41

Naty only leak breastfed poo, in fairness. They're great for pee.

perfectstorm · 11/05/2014 19:43

Beaming Baby sell direct to the public - don't think they are sold out there?

perfectstorm · 11/05/2014 19:44

Sorry, link goes to their own brand but they also sell Moltex (and Bambo, in fact, which is how I know the site).

hedwiggity · 11/05/2014 21:22

thats a good deal they have on the newborn pack and you get some toiletries thrown in too :) i'll bookmark this way cheaper than amazon too

Spirit of Nature came in cheapest for me, but both are cheaper than Amazon, I suspect because the cut they take from sales is passed directly to the customer. So going straight to the seller generally works out better (plus they pay tax...).

babyinmyarms · 18/05/2014 21:07

I have used Naty on my DD since newborn and moved up 3 sizes now.

They never leak (even for BF poo)! And no nappy rash at all.

perfectstorm · 18/05/2014 21:59

They are brilliant in preventing nappy rash, absolutely - they were a godsend when cloth and conventional disposables left my son's bottom like a Belisha beacon. It was just the leaking that bothered me, but I suspect that varies baby to baby and (as with cloth nappies) different brands may suit different children. Having said that, I first tried Bambo because the Mumsnet consensus was that they never leaked and Naty did, so my experience is the average, it would seem?

The Beaming Baby site offers samples of all the major eco-disposable brands, so that might be the best option for anyone pondering which to choose.
