Hi all I have an ergo , used for my dd and loved it!

I am pregnant with dc2 and would ideally like a sling more suitable for a newborn and one i can breastfeed in? Any advice please?! The world of slings is pretty daunting and a lot of my mates dont use them much!

I tried in a stretchy (I have a JPMB) and did manage a bit but it wasn't hands free, just helped take some of the weight. I think it's a case of having the right body shape/ boob size as some people find it easier than others. Ask on the sling board there are many experienced babywearing types there, or on the natural mamas forum?

Btw I asked the same question and was told not to worry, toddlers get used to pottering around by themselves while you feed. I didn't believe it but, miracle of miracles it turns out my DS does mostly amuse himself while I put my feet up and feed dd2. In the early days while he was still adjusting to the new arrival he did get up to a few attention seeking tricks but once he'd figured out his needs would still be met and I hadn't replaced him he was fine. Good luck!

Ring slings are good for feeding in because you can adjust them very quickly and easily

Also I should add that after a lot of carrying of ds1 I assumed I'd have no problems with dc2, but in fact newborns are quite hard to carry safely, they like to bury their heads in fabric/ boobs/ whatever. The key things are keep nose clear of fabric, head supported and spine as straight and supported as possible. I tried her in a Connecta, Beco (with and without newborn insert), a wrap and the stretchy, which was the best once I'd got it right which I'm my case meant tighter than I thought originally.
