Help! 1.5 year old accidentally had a 3 hour lunchtime nap today! I usually put her to bed at 7-7.30ish but no way will she go down then now. What time should I try? Does anyone else's baby have such a long nap?!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes! But she still manages to go down at seven. DD is 2.3 amd regularly has 2.5/3hr naps.

Can you maybe take her swimming at teatime - that usually zonks them.

croquet · 05/05/2014 15:45

I've never taken her swimming except on holiday Blush - we're not really set up for it. But we're taking her to park now and will chase her round. Amazing that yours still goes down at 7 - you're a lucky lady.

I fear I'll still be up with mine at 9 or something. I even made her have NO nap yesterday to try and get her to sleep better at night.

my 2 year old often sleeps for 3 hours and I dont worry about it,.....just keep him up a bit later if he doesnt look tired, he has done this since he was about 14/15 months and it has never had that much impact on his night time- possibly a half hour or hour later to bed but that doesnt bother me.....

Good luck! If my 15mo DTS had 3 hours we'd be looking at 10pm. He is a machine though. He only sleeps max 10 hours overnight. No more. Ever.

How did it go? I have to wake mine after an hour these days or bedtime takes for ever. Boo.

Sleep begets sleep is what I say!

DS1 used to have 3 hour naps until he was almost 3 and still went to bed at 8pm.

slightlyconfused85 · 05/05/2014 21:43

Never makes a difference to my dd. Still goes to bed at 7 but might chat to herself for a bit longer if very long nap. What if you just put her down as usual?

croquet · 05/05/2014 21:50

Hi ladies! She went to sleep fairly cheerfully at 8. Fingers crossed.

Bedtime was, as it always is, a long sequence of intricate rituals.
