Yucky question about LO's cold

odyssey2001 · 04/05/2014 23:29

We are into day three of a particularly nasty cold (the worst we have seen) and LO is walking up every morning with his pillow literally covered in snot. Not just small swipes, but a crusty puddle that covers about a quarter of the area of the pillow. It soaks through and his face is covered too. Is this normal?

He is constantly streaming in the day and is really struggling to eat. He keeps gagging. I assume because he is struggling to chew and breathe at the same time, therefore he isn't chewing enough and this gags on the lumps. Has anyone else had this?

I think I am just looking for reassurance that this is normal. Thanks in advance.

Sorry. Should have said LO is 3.4.

Normal I think. I always used a nasal aspirator when my two were too young to blow their noses. Bit weird but it always worked well!

At 3.4 maybe an aspirator is not such an efficient plan! Can they blow their nose to get some of the gunk out?

He can blow his nose but it is a constant stream of snot. He is becoming so red and raw under his nose. Sad

The big problem is when he is asleep. It seems to just be constantly streaming out of his nose through the night.

Aaa poor thing. Hopefully he'll be over it soon. Other things I've tried are carvol or Vicks. A damp towel on the radiator.

It's good it's coming out. May be worth popping to doctors incase there's a sinus infection.

I'd pop some Vaseline under and around his nose regularly to act as a barrier cream.

Poor thing.
