MEO at Waitrose

Hello!!
I have finally decided to go for MEO. After trying every single nappy possible available on the market- just love these for ease of use and reliability.
Apparantly Waitrose sell MEO's. I don't have one near me so can't go in and see.
Are they the same as one bought at nappy lady, babykind etc??
Also, do they have the 3 for 2 offer on much?
My friend lives in London and might be able to pick them up and bring them up for me when she is next coming up (I live in Carlisle!!!).

Hi
yes they are the same, the unbleached kind. I have never seen them on offer though.

NannyL · 27/08/2006 17:18

yes they are the same

i have seen them on offer.... but not since about last summer.... also seen them 'discontinue' (then immediatly restock them) and get REAL bargains then.... wraps for about a £ i think

Only the bigger waitroses stock them though

purpleturtle · 27/08/2006 17:19

I got wraps in Waitrose on 4 for 3 a few months ago.

I topped up my supply when they had a 4 for 3, or 3 for 2 offer a couple of months ago, also have got some bargains in their bargain bins with damaged packaging, etc. They also do them at waitrose.com/ocado, don't know if the offers are here though.

Thanks everyone. Will maybe try the website and perhaps ring around a couple of the stores near my friends and see.

Could I just ask everyone- how do you find the absorbancy of the MEO? My daughter is 11 months and for now it is fine. Will it need to be boosted in the day as she gets older? And if so will this make it incredibly bulky??

Thanks

I used the pop in booster with my DS and they lasted about three hours until they were very wet. I don't like them personally, they didn't fit around the legs properly on my ds and had a seriously baggy bum.
There are loads of reviews on my nappy blog here perhaps they may help you decide.
At your daughter's age you could just buy some large nappies and they would be likely to do her up to potty. Take a look over on the buy and sell at UKParents second hand forum, there are a huge number of barely used bargains, including MEOs.
Hope you find a great deal on your chosen nappies.

loopylou49 · 28/08/2006 12:38

Thanks Maisie- will do that.
This nappy business is more complicated than it looks.
I like the MEO's because of their slimness but the more I think about it, the more I realise that they are going to have to be boosted quite a bit or changed more often as she gets older. Might go back to looking at my original choice- bamboozles- that I initially disregarded due to length of time to dry!!!

Hi there,
perhaps you could buy a few pocket nappies as well, like fuzzibunz or weenotions pockets, they are a bit more expensive, but dry overnight and you could use a small terry as an absorbent insert - that way you won't be stuck waiting for nappies to dry. Besides pocket nappies are handy when you are going out or for anytime you need to do a quick change.
I have't heard much about nappy nation bamboo nappies, but they have a fold out design which is quick to dry, may be quicker than a bamboozle. They are certainly very absorbent and you don't get leaks with them.
If anyone has tried them please let us know how they got on.

loopylou49 · 29/08/2006 13:23

Thanks maisie

Just had a look on nappy nation website- they only have bamboo pre-folds and terry. Will persist with experimenting with bamboozles- and now tots bots. I think tots bots have the same absorbency as bamboozle but not as slim. But have now decided to give up on slim and just go for absorbency!!! Does everyone go through this when first changing to real nappies???

Hi, being a bit cheeky her... I bought a stack of MEO & never used them - areou interested in them ?

Mojomummy · 29/08/2006 13:42

her = here

Gem13 · 29/08/2006 13:55

loopylou - just wanted to pass on my experience of MEO for different children.

I had a big wetter of a DS who was in MEO until we switched to Toddlerease when he was about 2. That was because of DS's size rather than any leaking.

DD was in them with only a booster for the last few months until she was potty trained.

I have loved them for both my children and will use them for number 3.

I bought 20 before I had DS and so never tried any others but I do think they are excellent.

MrsWaggsnapps · 29/08/2006 19:32

for some reason, they only have mid sized terries on the Nappy Nation site, Twinkle sell large terries and the fitted nappy too. (they are local to me so I sometimes pop by to ogle the nappies ).

LL do bear in mind, you don't need to use only one kind (tho the 57 varieties I seem to have accumulated isn't necessary either), you may find MEOS or similar to be a great day nappy but prefer to use something different at night (same with wraps)

maisiemog · 29/08/2006 20:24

Loopy here is a link to the Bamboo Nappy Nation
It seems to only be available in nippa version, so hopefully it won't encounter the same trouble as bamboozle nippas.
Isn't that odd - not having the nappy on their own website?
I have heard that the Wambamboo is very good as well.
Sorry confusing you now.

Personally I wouldn't go with bamboozles; they take far too long to dry. I use a combination of microfibre inserts along with prefolds. You can't buy anything like that at a supermarket in Ireland. Lucky old you.
