Hi all :-) My daughter just turned two on the 13th August and for the past 2 days potty training has been goin quite well. No accidents at all yesterday. Now I am just nervous of venturing outside! lol! I know you can get travel potties but what if you are in a situation where....for example you are at the checkout in tesco and they say "poo poo"! What do you do!!!???!! Or you are in the middle of the high street or something? Do you just whip out the travel potty anywhere? :-/ I suppose there is not much you can do, but just wondering if anybody had and thoughts or tips about it.

I do not want to put her in pull ups as she just sees this as a nappy...understandably so I think! lol

Thanks x

it has never happened to me! Try and get into the habbit of going before you go out and even calling at the loo when you get there.

My ds is 3 in two weeks time. He has been dry for about 3 months.
I put him on the toilet before we go out and after shopping he uses the supermarket toilets.
It was only a problem when he was much younger as he wasn't ready and couldn't predict when he needed to go.

Thanks:-) I was wondering about how I would know if she needed to go...at home she will just say "poo poo" before she goes but for wee's...she just goes! So I am not sure what I will do about this when we are out. I will try getting her to go before. Wish me luck! x

Hi Tiasmummy, I had similar concerns but its amazing how fast dd learnt to 'hold it in' when out! The first week or two, we had the odd pee accident even if she'd had one before leaving the house - I just made sure she was in fairly absorbent trousers, rather than a little skirt, if we were going to be in a house/shops - and the opposite if we were going to be at the park etc.
We also had a few poo accidents (she couldn't tell they were coming as fast as she could with pee) but they stayed firmly in knickers, so she would just tell me - then we'd go to the nearest toilets and sort her out.
We tried travel potty once, but she hated it - she was 2.7 at the time and too big for it, felt uncomfortable and wouldn't stay on it.

Good luck! The fear is worse than the reality...

Cheers Elibean :-) You have given me hope! lol! Hopefully I will be like you, and things will not be as bad as i thought...fingers crossed! xx

I had the same concerns so sent her out with mil just in knickers without telling mil it was her first time it worked a treat saved me any embarrassment and dd kept dry!

Malory - I have been in house since Fri...feels like a lifetime! First day was more just easing her into it. I really think if I put Tia in pull ups to go out she would just think she has a nappy on! She is too young to understand the theory you MIL used....if only I could use that! How old was your DD at the time?

Leddodgy...that is soooooooooo funny!! haha! I would have been stifling my laughter as they went out the door!

Thanks for your replies :-)

This whole potty training lark makes u realise how easy life was with nappies! All this having to make sure you are near a loo...getting them to go before you go out...travel potties....happy days! :-)

Yes, I had several nappy nostalgia moments where it took all I had to refrain from begging dd to put one back on......

I have done the same as MT's Mum a few times (places/times I felt I really reeeeeally could'nt cope with an accident, or wasn't sure of faciliites) with Dora pullups: dd was 2.7 at the time, and in love with Dora, and I told her these were big girl special nappies for girls who could do peepee in the toilet. She has hardly ever peed in a pullup, but tbh....I don't think it would have worked at just two.

Just make sure you carry a couple of changes of clothes (including socks if she's wearing any), plastic bag, and plenty of wipes/cloths!
