Seriously what am I doing wrong?? Using pampers and have tried size 1 and 2 as DS is 9lb. I change him every 2 hours or so and he still soaks through his clothes Confused
I've tried placing extra cotton wool in it to keep his pen is pointing down. What am I missing???

Do you pull the lacey/frilly liner bits out once you've finished putting them on? That helped us a lot! Reach in round back of thighs, hook frills and pull them out so bum is completely cocooned!!

ZingWatermelon · 27/04/2014 03:55

is the nappy snug enough around his waist?

do try different makes, bigger sizes won't help, you need a snug fit

I find this happens a lot with Asda Little Angels nappies but never a problem with Aldi's. I totally agree that different brands suit different babies

Clr2014 · 27/04/2014 04:12

Ime pampers are the worst. Was so surprised! Tesco own are best I've found...

Theyaremysunshine · 27/04/2014 04:43

Agree with all the above. Try a different brand. Asda, Aldi, Lidl all much better and half the price ime. That said we're currently using the twice the price Naty nappies which are just so very brilliant for happy rash in the teething baby.

Blueberrybaby · 27/04/2014 05:09

Exactly what Singsongmama said. Are you pulling out the frills? You need to hook your thumbs in and pull them out, otherwise its just a funnel and poo and wee will happily escape!!

TravellingToad · 27/04/2014 05:20

Are you doing the tabs up tight enough?

ChineseFireball · 27/04/2014 07:00

Why do you need to put cotton wool in to keep your D's penis pointing down? Genuine question! If the cotton wool is between the skin and the waistband it could be affecting the fit/seal.

Also I found that to start with I was doing nappies up too high up, sort of Simon Cowell-esque. Maybe try doing it up fairly tight but more around the hips than the tummy? And yes, frills out!

Some explosive nappies are unavoidable due to poonami events but you shouldn't get leaks all the time. Different brands suit different babies as PP have said so maybe try a few. My NCT group mums each bought a pack of nappies from somewhere different and we did a sort of swap-around thing so we didn't bankrupt ourselves buying loads of packs of nappies.

Congratulations on your little one Smile

I too found tescos newborn nappies to be better than pampers both for leaks and smell, I found the pampers smelt strongly of wee when used which tesco didn't

Having exactly the same problem still at nearly 4 months old. Have tried Aldi, Pampers, Sainsbury's nappies, all size 3. My DD just has very mustardy liquid poos (sorry TMI) and if I don't change her straight away it all leaks through. Or often it leaks anyway.
A friend has now given me a re-usable nappy cover to put on top of the disposable to make it more snug. So far so good so this may be worth a try.
Otherwise.. wait until weaning!

I use Boots own nappies and they are great. My DS is 12 weeks. I found he leaked through using Aldi nappies.

Boomerwang · 29/04/2014 00:49

My daughter has never leaked through anything but Huggies nappies. You need to change brands until you find one that has a good seal around the legs. Don't just pull the tabs over until they meet in the middle, you need to take a look around the legs, put your fingers in both sides and make sure the elasticated inner parts are firmly sealed around the legs. Not tightly, just not loosely.
