for the first month of my babies life i did not bath him - just top and tailed once a day with water and i only used cotton wool and water with drapolene when changing him.

when he was a month old i started bathing twice a week and began to use things like baby bath, liquid talc, baby lotion, baby wipes etc and i wash his hair once a week with the baby bath.

i will probably use proper baby shampoo and bath him every day when he is a year old and i will definitiely not use normal products until he is at least 3. atl east all this is what i thought i would do..

now my mum keeps complaining he does not have a baby smell but after reading various books and articles i always thought what i did was what you were meant to do. now i am worried people will think he is riffy. what do you all do?

Tsk mothers! If I'd listened to mine i would have stopped bfeeding at 6 weeks because he wasn't sleeping well and was obviously hungry, then I would have started putting baby rice into his bottle at 10 weeks believe it or not! He would have been put on the potty at 12 months and the list goes on and on!

Things were different for them we learn new stuff all the time and all babies are different too.

It might be the right thing for some to bathe daily I had to with dd for sicky reasons but I didnt with ds top and tailed instead and he had the best smell of all. Learn to not get upset there will probably be more to come! Good luck

oh and also apparently i shouldn't give him bottles straight out of the fridge - but he falls asleep if i warm them up!!

i was never going to sterilise after reading a thread about it on here, but did just to keep my mother quiet. it was easier to wait 6 extra minutes for clean bottles than to get an earful every day, but guess what, he's still managed to get thrush in his mouth and upset tummies which were the things she told me i must sterilise in order to prevent!!

I washed mine every day of his life and he is now 7 is just what your preference is, now in hindsight I think I just gave myself extra work. do what you think is best not your Mother
