Asda angel nappies

Hi I'm not sure I'm in the right place. But just wondered if anyone has had trouble with asda own brand nappies recently.
I've been usuing them since dd was about 6 weeks old (now 16 weeks) we've had no problems no rashes or anything. I opened anew box yesterday and today she's woken up and her bottom is red raw it looks almost like they've burnt her if that makes sense.

I'm a first time mum. Again sorry if I'm in the wrong place x

Never had problems, but there could be a faulty batch and the gel has escaped. I've seen it happen with pampers before.
I've used little angels for months as well, there will be a number to call.

I get? When I took her nappy off earlier there was a jelly like substance could that be it?

There was a story ages ago about a shop brand nappy with chemical burns to the child. Can't remember which one it is.

Ds2(8) had really bad reaction same as you described I took them back had my money back and a box of pampers from them. Know was long time ago but I find Asda very good like that.

cariadmawr · 25/04/2014 16:42

Know sounds crazy but if you beat egg whites and cover her bum leave it dry naturally be better in no time .
My oldest had very bad nappy rash and my granny told me to do it . Worked like dream

Stom91 · 25/04/2014 18:03

Yea I'm going down tomorrow to take them back I've only used 2 luckily the ones kn her Change bag are the ones from the old box so I'll use then And get a new box tomorrow but I don't want to get the same batch :/ so I may just have to pay extra for the pampers.

Thanks I'll give it a whirl x

Oh god, I have to recommend boots own, better than pampers and much cheaper. I am using asdas at the moment and prefer boots

Stom91 · 25/04/2014 18:35

Thanks little. I'll check them out.

If I'm honest I feel so guilty for not taking her to a dr. I wish I had taken her this morning now :( she has a little blister and skin is red raw she doesn't seem in any pain but she's been really sleep all day. Do you think that the burn is causing her to be sleepy? Almost like her body is trying to fix it. If that makes any sense.
I feel terrible. :(

You have done the right thing and good idea to take them back. I never really liked pampers as i found they leaked. If I don't use asda ones I use aldis, which are really good and are the only ones that last my ds through the night. Haven't tried boots though.
She's might be repairing herself, or might just be having a sleepy day doing lots of growing.
You do feel guilty if they are hurt, but you have done all you can.

Stom91 · 25/04/2014 20:00

We've had no probs with pampers when we used them we just changed as it was cheaper! Unfortunately we don't have an aldi near us :(

Me and DH were using theses nappies for our DS - the price being the main attraction. Although we didn't have any rashes we found that the nappies were constantly leaking due to not holding much urine. On many a night we'd have to change DS's clothes because both his undershirt and baby-Gro were wet. Poor thing. We now use Pampers.

Stom91 · 25/04/2014 20:18

Really? We've had no problems with leakage or not holdin enough wee. Are the frills out? I've had n problems at all until this burn today! Poor thing feel so bad for her x x

I would call your out of hours doc and let them know what has happenend - if she is blistering/has burns she might get dehydrated and risk of infection if/when the skin breaks. They might want you to get her seen tonight.
Take pictures too so you have evidence for ASDA.
I would definitely want to take this further
They may need to re-call the batch too so best all round if you let them know. There should be a customer satisfaction number to call on the packet. If not there should be a head office/complaints number on their website.

Please call the doc x

Stom91 · 25/04/2014 21:39

Yeah I rang asda they guna give me a refund abd send the nappies for testing.

I have to wait til dp is home as don't drive :/
She seems fine in herself. Just feel guilty that it's so red raw
I've got lots of pictures x

I use Sainsburys Eco nappies. I have very sensitive skin and worried DS would be the same. They have no gel inside so more breathable.

Stom91 · 25/04/2014 21:46

I didn't even know nappies had gel in them until today :S

Cariad007 · 26/04/2014 13:51

Oh yes, and I found this out the hard way when one of DS's Pampers wound up in the washing machine and swelled up to five times its size and the gel beads escaped everywhere!

Stom91 · 26/04/2014 22:45

Oh gosh! Took her to A&E last night dr wasn't very helpful and told me that it was just nappy rash. As they don't have any toxins in. Maybe not but it can obviously harm the skin.

She's blistering and her skin is peeling in my opinion that isn't just nappy rash. Especially as it came on so suddenly!
She's 16 weeks and has had a perfectly care bum until now
X
