Ds is 16 months old, as the weather is getting warmer he has been having more nappy off time.

Ds is obsessed with weeing, people and animals weeing is very funny in his opinion.

Yesterday he was running about with no nappy on, there were some sticks on the grass so he still had his shoes on, he said wee-wee! And started weeing, the wee went down his leg so I pointed his willy so the wee went on the grass, he thought this was hilarious and was doing belly laughing. He tried to help

Should I be encouraging him to hold his willy to direct the wee like a man does?

Follow his lead- if he seems to understand it then teach him what to do and why.

DS was 3.5 before he could use the loo and at almost 5 he can't stand up/point his willy yet.

I have a DS but only 3m so not had this yet, but in your shoes I would show him how to aim it away from his legs/ feet GrinGrin

I think I might be expecting too much from him to aim away from his shoes, today we went to the beach where he could have no shoes on so no worry about weeing on shoes.

Probably a bit early. DS potty trained at 2.0, could stand up to wee at 2.5 with reliably good aim before 3 yo. DH and I showed him how to hold his willy but without doubt the most useful learning tool was cheerio bombing. Cheerio in loo to aim at, flushes away easily, endless fun!
