Pampers sensitive wipes

We've used pampers wipes since our little man was born but over the last week he has become very red and sore. The wipes are advertised as 'new'; has anyone had any problems with the wipes recently? Which wipes would you recommend?

You could try using Water wipes, I think most big supermarkets and boots stock them.

Also any changes to brand of nappy? Some of these can irritate the skin too. A lot have chemicals in them.

Hope the soreness clears up soon.

Another vote for water wipes. They're expensive but superb for irritable skins.

Your best bet is to swap to cotton wool and water for a while to make sure it's the wipes that are the problem. Could he be teething or as pp suggests it could be the nappies?

Metanium is your friend for sorting out the rash in the meantime.

We've found Aldi's sensitive wipes to be very good on sensitive skin-and a lot cheaper than the branded ones too. Just switched to reusable wipes though and they're even better-just using them with water.

We've used the Naty wipes with ds, he's hardly ever had any nappy rash. Could be a coincidence of course, but we've stuck with them as they've caused no probs.

Maybe just use cotton wool balls and water for now, that's what were were advised (dis is 1 month). Tesco do a massive bag of 300 which is fairly cheap.

mousmous · 20/04/2014 21:11

we only used wipes for out and about, and flannels and water at home.
much gentler for the skin.

GingerDoodle · 20/04/2014 22:07

DD had horrendous nappy rash for a approaching a month for no apparent reason (although I think it may have started with a reaction to Tesco nappies). Only thing that cured it for us nappy changes every 2 hours during the day with lots of talc!

Only wipes that i've ever had trouble with were buggies.

Cotton wool pads work better than balls for us.

Second vote for the Aldi sensitive wipes.

Natybaby nappies seemed to help reduce rash for our irritated baby bums

My DS has sensitive skin but just loads of sudocream before putting the next nappy on, and a bit of nappy off time for ten mins everyday made sure his 'bits' got some fresh air and dried a bit. I think this does help. We tried tesco sensitive wipes and they worked well for us, I like that they clip closed too. Xx

We use huggies pure (don't have the money for water wipes or time for water/cotton wool) and they're fine. Pampers, in my experience, are the worst for nappy rash. They're also really thin and very wet and slimy.

neversleepagain · 22/04/2014 10:23

We use damp IKEA flannels in a Tupperware with a few drops of lavender oil. Babies have only had nappy rash a couple of times in 18 months.

Water Wipes are great. I only discovered them with DC3 - wish I'd known about them from the beginning!

babySophieRose · 23/04/2014 08:34

We use Pampers sensitive wipes and never had a problem with them, Huggies wipes always results in a rush. My DD gets rush also if we change the nappies brand.

oscarwilde · 23/04/2014 13:14

They gave my DD immediate nappy rash. Sudocrem seemed to make it worse too.
Water wipes and Boots castor oil and zinc cream or metatanium cream have been a lifesaver.
While nappy rash is present though, I'd go to water and cotton wool until it's gone. It's the fastest way to get rid of it.

As a test, try using the pampers wipes on your hands or face several times a day. They'll be dry and sore in no time.

The other thing which may be of use is the frequency of nappy changes and therefore how much you are actually using the wipes. You'll need frequent changes to get rid of the rash but try not to change too frequently, or infrequently for that matter and it should help. Before every feed unless there's an explosion of poo seems to work quite well as a rule of thumb.
