I know babies shouldn't be left to cry but....

It's 2.30pm, I haven't eaten or drank since 07.00am and I'm flagging Sad

All I want to do is go and make myself a cup of tea and a sandwich but every time I try and put DS down (who is 4 weeks old) he is just screams and screams - I gave been trying for over an hour to get him to settle so I can dash to the kitchen.

I love in a 3 storey house and going to the kitchen would involve going to another floor in the house and the thought if leaving DS to just scream to himself is killing me.

In an ideal world I'd invest I a sling so I could take DS with me but for health reasons I can't use one so it isn't an option.

I feel like I'm about to faint but I can't just leave him alone to cry...can I?

Writer, have you tried using the washing machine? Park him in his bouncy chair/ car seat in front of the machine while it's running. It's magic, I can guarantee it.

Three words - vibrating bouncy chair! Probably the most useful thing we had in the early days. I could put DD in there & know she was safe if I had to nip out of the room quickly. Also great on the bathroom floor while you're showering.

Ahh, I miss that chair Smile.

Another mum with epilepsy here!

Please eat, and rest. Looking after yourself is not a luxury. For me tiredness, hunger and stress were all seizure triggers when my epilepsy was active.

Housework can wait.

If you can't carry him up/down stairs then wouldn't it be more practical to keep him downstairs until your DH is home? They don't need to have naps in their cots, DS never did.

The lay out of our house is that the kitchen is on the ground floor and our living room is a flight of stairs up - hence why I have to be on a different floor to him when I want to go to the kitchen. I suppose we can get a travel kettle etc and keep it in the living room with me alongside a packed lunch so then I'd have no reason to go downstairs to the kitchen I suppose.

MrsReynolds - we have a vibrating bouncy chair but I bought the wrong battery type - I will definitely make that a priority then!! Smile

That sounds like a bit of a pain! Spare kettle and sandwiches/snacks sound like a good idea but remember the baby will be crawling at some point, so only worth it if you have somewhere high with plug access that the boiling water couldn't be pulled down from.

Why are you doing housework!?
